Click "Enter Server" and nothing happens

I was playing TERA yesterday without any problem.
Today I launched the game like always and I can't get past the Server Selection Screen. I click "Enter Server" button and nothing happens. If click to refresh the server list, the list disappear and not come back.
I do solved the problem by using hotspot shield (some kind of vpn) but due the service mechanics I get higher ping.
I already did the add "206.248.168.162 patch.tera.enmasse-game.com" in C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts, but the problem persists.

Can someone help me to solve this problem so I don't need to use third part software vpn to be able to play ?

ps: Since day 1 after installation the game does not work if launched direct from the steam. I must close the steam client and launch the game through the TERA-Launcher.exe. Otherwise I get 0% Progress problem.

  • First, this may go without saying, but I would confirm that you are indeed playing TERA NA by En Masse, and not TERA EU by Gameforge.

Second, regarding the hosts file, I would confirm that the changes were saved in a file actually called "hosts" and not "hosts.txt" in the same folder.

Third, I would try performing a ping to patch.tera.enmasse-game.com to confirm that it is indeed returning the IP address you set in the hosts file. If it is not, then your hosts file may not be saved properly, or something may be blocking it.

If you do the ping test and are getting an IP address other than the one you set, I'd be curious to know what you get.

Another possibility could be that your IP is banned from the game servers, or it thinks you're playing from a banned region, which could explain why normally neither the launcher nor the game will connect without using a VPN.
  • Did the ping test to patch.tera.enmasse-game.com. Same IP adress (206.248.168.162) that is set on the host file in windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts.
My host file is exactly like this: http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170306/fmjv5mbs.png
I'm playing the En Masse server on Fey Forest.
I'm not playing from a banned region. I'm from South America. According to http://support.enmasse.com/tera/playing-tera-outside-of-north-america I'm OK to play.
  • Okay, given all that's the case, I recommend sending in a ticket along with your IP address (and your diagnostic info from the Tools section of the launcher). This seems like something that isn't as simple as not being on the right patch version. Given that a VPN works around it, it seems like it could be some sort of block (either on EME's side, or at your ISP).

The launcher connect normal without vpn. The only problem is when I click "Enter Server". I must use the vpn software to be able to go past this screen. I mentioned the 0% progress stuck problem, that only happens when I launch the game through stream, for information. Maybe somehow related to the main problem. But it cannot be, because many people solved the 0% progress problem by launching the game without steam.
