NA had priority on names, creation date wasn't even a factor, which is one of the reasons this is a problem.
Calling it "player toxicity" is just another reason it should be reined in. Trolling other people by stealing their names is anti-fun, and there's no countermeasure besides contacting support. If support then goes "Oh, poor you. There's nothing wrong here though.", that's not very motivating to keep supporting the game.

It seems EME also greatly underestimated how much people value their names, I had several crewmembers looking for alternate games to play in case the names they had for years ended up lost because EME took the easy way out during the merge.

Nope, not acceptable. Reopen the ticket.
They screw up their merge, they fix their merge.
Of course support is busy right now because there's so many issues, but that is no excuse to waste all the time spent on those characters because of some technical issue.

Q: What happens to my characters and purchased character slots?
1. Please review your characters ahead of the server merge! Characters on your account(s) with higher levels/EXP and earlier creation dates will be transferred first.
2. Characters from EU and NA servers will be transferred to WORLD server until all character slots are filled, up to a maximum of 20 slots. We will be unable to recover any characters deleted during this process.

If point 1 is not applied correctly, point 2 is void. Work on it.

Having a guy make like 20 accounts to get 100 names he won't use and have him selling those names in the very website of the game; is at the very least embarrasing. Should be banable really.
