Does anyone think it will be better or worse with EME no longer publishing? DFO seemed to do alright when they moved from publisher (Nexon) > developer (Neople), but they're highly supported in other region.
Depends on whether the developer will put in more commitment than what they are dispensing to the publisher right now

I want to know how to login to the game after transfer, because currently is using enmass account.
Please wait for further information in the coming weeks, there is no concrete stuff out yet and everyone is just asking the same question.
Re: I want to thank EME / Naddic
What I really enjoyed the most was being able to get free 3* black suit costume for free. It just made it more fun to get the costumes since they always stand out the best to me. Back to the point of being Thankful. I really enjoy my time with enmasse. I had some ups and downs with the developers, but overall ended in a good remark. They always keep their promises, (not all the times but they are human). All of their hard work gave us players a little more of hope that we’d still be kicking ass and enjoy ourselves with playing their game. Overall I’m glad they joined with Naddic. We the players, might be able to get more people to join in the game and be able to be lively just as KR is. Stay Safe and Take Care En Masse Employers. The Legacy Lives On!
Re: I want to thank EME / Naddic
Well, with this so might we actually be able to catch up with KR, unless we will be transferred directly to KR
But yeah, despite all the hate and me complaining about EME being too slow, they still did decently ok in my books
This news was kinda expected though, due to lack of players, but hey, my Nata will still be alive <3
I want to thank EME / Naddic
The last two events were actually pretty fun. There's something refreshing of beating up a tanned Bandage Man and the Black Lambs wearing costumes.
Closers Service Will Continue With Naddic
Today we delivered some bad news about the future of En Masse Entertainment. But I also have some great news to share about the future of Closers. Naddic, the developer of Closers and En Masse have been preparing to transfer game services to Naddic. Your time as a Closer will continue.
En Masse will continue to support Closers with 2 more content releases currently scheduled for August 31 PDT and September 28 PDT. Then toward the end of October we will begin transferring our data to Naddic who will bring servers back online with all of your progress preserved. You will not lose anything during this transfer and your new home will be with the developers themselves.
There is a lot for you to look forward to with this change of service. I am very excited for the content Naddic has lined up for you. Stay tuned for more information.
Re: Launcher stop working
Usually launcher related issues are a matter of retrying. There was an intermission problem earlier but it's gone now. If not try launching it through steam
Re: What's with the game and it's popularity?
A few things to keep in mind 'cause it seems to me that a lot of people don't understand what "Niche" is and just trow it as some sort of "badge of honor" in order to justify closers lower numbers, which is very dumb in my opinion.
Niche is term used in economy which makes reference to a market that tends to be small and very specific and usually loyal.
So first than all and not offense at any one here but do you really understand what niche means?
I ask this for 2 main reason:
-
1st one is 'cause in the case TOS, that game is precisely what niche is: Something that appeal to a specific demografic which will be people that used to play Ragnarok and felt nostalgia about it. Yes the game is considered a Ragnarok reboot. But lets be honest here.
If I ask someone what Ragnarok is, I will usually get 2 answer:
A) The Norse Mythology event.
B ) A very popular mmorpg.
Notice that even people who are not gamers, but just have basic knowledge about internet at least know that there is some game by the name of Ragnarok and that said game is or was popular at some point.
On the other hand, if ask people what ToS is, I will usually get:
???????????
????
What???
Some acronym for something?
Term of service?
Only a few will think in Tree of Savior.
-
If I ask direclty for the name Tree of Savior: More people will know about some game, but again most will have no idea, most are not even aware that is related to Ragnarok. So in short: trying to use Ragnarok in order to make TOS look like a main stream game is wrong. In fact is even more of a proof that TOS is not. I mean if that was the case TOS will easily be able to pull at least half of Ragnarok numbers and that would still be tens of thousands just on steam. Remember that Ragnarok was a game able to pull more than 2 million accounts worldwide at its peak and while the game was popular It was able to pull averages of 400k - 700k active accounts, this in an age when internet was way less affordable and common. Even if we halve that due all the bots and alt accounts, it will still be 200k - 500k actives at its time. So compare to that a game like TOS pulling 3k aprox on steam, lets say double that taking into account other versions that I am not aware, that is still niche or huge failure if you consider it mainstream.

In the case of Tera @Piccola is indeed correct. Tera was designed as the first real action mmo and is very well known even now as the first real action mmo. But this is actually even worse for eme. And I say this 'cause if The eme version of the first real action mmo is strugling to retain more than 1000 players in one of the most popular gaming platforms on the planet, that clearly means that something is wrong either with the game or the publisher which happens to be eme.
-
What @Piccola say about SoulWorker is correct as well. However don't forget gameforge's region lock which basically killed about alf of its population and all the hype about that game for a lot of people, so that should had killed the game almost instantly, yet it didn't.
-
Even worse: if we bring back Tera to the conversation, The Tera version being published by Gameforge in Europe is actually more popular than the American one published by Eme nowadays. And keep in mind that gamforge is very hated publisher by a lot of people, it is considered an extremely pay to win and greedy company, yet you have eme's Tera player base going to Europe and even using vpns and playing with lag just to avoid the american version....
@Piccola said:
To discuss about games, numbers, niche you need to know what you are talking about. Closers has numbers for a niche game. And is pretty good actualy...
-
Now this part of your comment is the second reason that makes me think that you either don't know what niche really means or that you are just trolling.
Numbers are very important in any sort of market, but even more on a niche game. And no, it doesn't need to be big numbers, but it needs to be consistent. One of the most important aspect of a niche product to survive is the loyalty of its demographics. The moment that a product start to massively bleed customers, is the momment that product is doomed... And that is exactly what is happening with Closers. Even worse: if the total player number is small, the whale numbers is even smaller, so the only way for the game to survive is if most of its population is made of extremely loyal whales, the lower the population the more that population needs to spend and the most that the company needs to find ways in order for the game to survive, this translate in server merges, firing people, charging more to its costumers, less event, etc... All this lead us to the last sentence of @Piccola comment:
Just stop complaining about numbers and play your game. If you play a game only for numbers of players online, you are playing it wrong, friend.
And this is perhaps the worst mistake that someone could make.
Don't get me wrong, people should not start freaking out or raging over everything. However ignoring the problems and just saying something like "play your game and move on" is pretty much like that meme of the dog inside a building on fire that say: "everything is fine..."
I don't really think that the problem is the lack of players affecting most of the remaining people's game experience. Sure aside from the new players and the really undergeared ones that will have less chance to get help. Or the people that miss their in game friends that already left, the others should be fine, after all veterans can either facerroll everything due them being overgeared or in worst case do content with their remaining friends help.
The real problem is how does the population drop affect Enmasse. Remember that Eme is not a charity, Eme is a company traying to make profit out of the game. The moment that eme's profit falls below of what is considered reasonable for them is the moment that eme just shut down the game... And eme killing the game due lack of revenue would affect all the players who enjoy the game equally, this includes OP, me, and everyone else talking here, this regardless of their position..
