Def Pen, Crit Dmg Resist, Soma stats

edited August 24 in General Discussion

Hi!, i'm confused with this, actually we know bosses have resistance, and we usually use Def Pen to overpass it.

Reading Soma's Skill, Lions Roar, i usually use the over lvl10 for the cube
"Decreases Crit Damage Resistance of enemies by 20% for 15 seconds."

But now i notice, that is not Def Pen, seems to be there a new stat, Def Pen Crit, and the bosses now i suppose have obvs Def Crit.

How it works?, if i have 100% Def Pen.. and 100% crit rate, no Def Pen effect?

Theory
if we usually do 100 of dmg, and we in total do 175, (75 for all the crit things).
From the 175, 100 will use Def Pen, the other 75 will use Def Pen Crit effect.
No idea if this is correct...

Thx.

Armor is ignored by Defense Penetration while Crit damage resistance can't be ignored but can be reduced, thats what Lion's Roar and a few other skills do.

Crit damage resistance has nothing to do with Crit rate, it affects Crit damage, If you have for example 400% crit damage total the crit damage resistance will ignore part of it and make it so that, for example sake, only 300% of it works.
If we assume that the crit damage resistance is making it so you have 100% less crit dmg then lion's roar would make it so that the ammount ignored is reduced by 20%, making it so it only ignores 80% crit dmg instead of the original 100%.

Hi!, thx for the answer, that clarifies more, i'm still confused with some things.

When we hit, we have two possibilities, one, the git is normal, second the hit is critical, if the hit is critical the dmg change with proportion of critial damage bonus.

Maybe the first question is how armor works here, Works with normal hits?, crit hits?, both of them?

Other question is how we are interpreting crit damage, here an example, we have a base of 100% of dmg, if we have 200% crit damage bonus, with a 100% crit rate (always we hit as crit), the total damage would be 200% (damage of crit) or 300% (normal damage + crit damage)?

I'll ask the next part with this answer, the question change if how affects, maybe you already know why i'm confused.

    Thx.

  • Armor works against both normal and crits, and crit damage adds on to the normal damage (so normal damage + crit damage) cuz crit damage isn't always above 100% in the first place (if you were to remember early game crits).

    :O Thx!

Now the main issue!, if armor Works in normal and crit, how Works def crit?

Maybe how is written above (how i interpret this), armor reduces total damage, while def crit reduces our crit bonus? (normal damage is not reduced)

Armor reduces overall damage, but defense penetration counters armor.
Crit Damage Resistance counters the Crit damage bonus as Yongg described.
Now to my recollection, the crit damage (against the resistance) is calculated first, then the overall damage is the result after taking armor and defense penetration into account.
