Vanguard Item Level Requirement
http://tera-forums.enmasse.com/forums/general-discussion/topics/vanguard-item-level-requirement?page=1
^read the discussion and eme's response
TL;DR:
- vanguard ilvl too high or even, unnecessary
- no new healing jewerly so that screws healer ilvl over
- issue was "looked into" but nothing changed
- Should vanguard ilvl be lowered or removed completely???
With gear not being able to dismantle we can only get feed through vanguards. I cleared SSNM and WH today and yesterday with an ilvl of 402 so I got nothing useful.
Need feed to upgrade gear, vanguard doesn't give feed...lol

Of course it should be. Same goes for dailies and every other "modern" f2p money drainer mmo nonsense.
Could we have solid, strong, enjoyable party REAL bams / bosses on IoD simply dropping useful stuff (feedstocks, embers) ? Could we have proper drops in dungeons ? Could we have limits on dungeon removed ?
Certainly. But it goes against f2p model - as the main point of that model is to corner you into cash shop, or make you suffer bracketed, tedious, limited and artificially lengthened gameplay. Or rather "gameplay".
It's like with embers, again. You need few hundreds to even have a reasonable shot at T3 etching. You get 0-2 per day (and only if you do ghilli/pvp)
For healers, you actually have to gimp yourself to be able to get higher ilvl, putting on worse gear because the worse gear has a higher ilvl.
You would just get a list of all possible quests, no issue here.
Aside that, the VG quests shouldn't be auto assigned. Actually they shouldn't exist to begin with. The bams (or rather pseudo paper bams as they are now) of your choice should drop [filtered], that one can farm when one has a time and/or need. Same goes for dungeons.
But as long as VG existis (and its sole reason of existence is to artificially slow people down and secondarily to corner them into elite subscription) yes, the ilvl lock is idiotic (though existing for the obvious reason: to force people into progression).
Sure, our CM has chimed in on the topic in the old forums, but has this been followed up? Has this been brought up to BHS at all?
This issue should receive medium-top priority as it may take time to fix or change. I think the reason that Vanguard reward is limited by item level is because the Vanguard request window is tied to Instance Matching. (Honestly, what is the point of having a instance match option in the Vanguard window when there is already a Instance match system?)
Higher item level, in general, indicates "better" gear, but it doesn't mean that older gear is useless as some people put it ("omg new gear coming out... my Dreadnaught is going to be useless!")
Yes, that seems to be the developers' intention. We need to let the developers know that everyone is in gear progression whether the ilvl restriction is there or not. Healers have been crying about this a lot, but it's not like they are not progressing. Healers do upgrade their armor, maybe a few pieces of jewelries, what not. Only a few specific items that some healers choose not to upgrade (e.g. rings, weapon) and that is preventing the new content from being rewarding.
(Let's not mention that the rerollable lines - ilvl connection is dumb at times... but that's another topic.)
