im new to Tera, just finished my first lvl 65 - a baraka mystic (as it turns out the rarest thing in this game)

as much as im blown away by the really top notch gameplay and the imho absolut best creature design of any game of this kind:

are you familiar with the common knowledge that two things ruin every movie: kids and animals / pets, and tera has both, as races even, and the most insane thing: people play them!!! just found out elin are the most popular "race" (not a race, just silly kids), and the badass hulks that are baraka the least popular, just can somebody enlighten me on just WHY! what the [filtered] makes ppl want little kids and talking pets in the epic fantasy world, how are eternal kids even a flippin race, what is this!?

and just when u think you can somehow look past this infantile nonsense your xp-hunger forces you into a battleground of fuking kuma babies in a kindergarden, wtf! do the makers even know that there is such a thing as breach of style or atmosphere and pathos

so big kudos for the mind-blowing creature design (mobs, and all non-pet/kid races), brilliant gameplay and fantastic landscapes but just bafflement at wasting it all with this infantile nonsense

Poporis are played because they are extremely cute as well as elins. Noone wants to be badass or cool. Cute + badass, cool is the key.

Did you ever ask yourself why your Baraka Mystic is the rarest class played in Tera?
Oh, and I also had a Baraka Mystic myself some years ago. I couldn't stand playing this race and invested $25 in a race change voucher.

The diaper Kumas derive from the original game mode where players with their characters were to invade a dream land as pirates. They had to steal big diamonds, guarded by 3 baby kumas in diapers in a huge castle built of playing blocks. As this battleground was unbalanced, BHS put out a battleground where we all are in diapers now.

Lol at the infantile nonsense. Playing as kids with weapons bigger than them defeating gods is a lot of fun.

So, what makes the 'badass hulks' Barakas any more fun and/or lore appropriate for a fantasy game?

Elins aren't really children, they just look young. Would you tell an adult that looks young they are a child strictly due to their appearance? Also, their popularity is pretty obvious if you looked outside of your bubble. Japanese anime is popular in the West, and obviously Japan. Elin fits part of that Anime culture, especially a lot of their cosmetics. Many people who play MMORPGs are into Anime, and thus they like dressing up Elins. Even putting Anime to the side, most PC Gamers are men, and men prefer playing as attractive females, which is why Female Castanic was 2nd popular to Elin. As for the female player base portion, it should be pretty obvious why they prefer Elin, and normally they even want a male equivalent since they like "cute" things.

The worst part about Kumas Royale isn't the diapers, it's how unbelievably slow everything is so that mostly it's luck that gets you a win because gameplay is too far removed from the original TERA for skill to factor in before you spent a far too long time playing Kumas Royale.
No idea how anyone thought making everything extremely slow so that you miss more often than not is gonna be fun.

As for Elins, lolis are the new mmorpg meta. Lolis sell. At least in Asian countries and considering how many Elins I saw in non exclusive classes, they sell pretty well in the west, too.

But tbh gender locking classes to force people to play as females or lolis is pathetic. Normally you'd think to balance out the naturally higher amount fo female characters, if there was arbitrary gender locking it would be males.
But then, if you actually force players to play mostly as a single gender it is far cheaper and easier to create content (costumes, etc.) for a single gender and only a fraction of this for the other gender than to create a lot of varied content for both genders.

Oh and Barakas, they are just way too fat. Seriously. Morbidly obese stone statues are kinda lame. I generally think they are really cool and a big belly would not be a big problem normally, but this belly is far too big, it just looks dumb for half the classes.

A big stone statue with a big belly that's a fast dual wield warrior would be cool and all but not when the statue is actually spherical with a belly as big as he is tall.

And while we are at it, Elin birthing hips and grown woman thighs look beyond ridiculous. You'd think in a game with so much focus on them Elins would more adhere to common aesthetic standards or at least allow you some customization but instead BHS goes with just plain weird, not to mention their creepily large hands.
