You only need 1 person to distract outer pyre. Trust me, unless the enemy are complete traps or they already got your other pyre, they will definitely want to protect that pyre. You don't have to get it, you just need to delay about 20-30s of their time.
It is just sad that nowadays whenever I decide to go out to distract, at least 3 people follow me lol.
