Accelerate not working for flying mounts

I tried to do a search to see if this was already a post. I might not have searched right. However, wanted to see if this was a bug or intentional. Instructions say to press shift to accelerate, however that is not happening at all.

  • This happens some times when my ping is around 137ms or it just doesn't work at all. No idea why but I agree with you on this one, it has to be a bug. Sometimes I have to remount my horse just to fly-away-now. :confounded:
  • You have to press both shift and W to accelerate, ez pz solved, not a bug!

Some times that doesn't work, I could reclick shift while holding W, or stop holding W to re-hold W then click shift again, and nothing would happen. I really think it's my ping though, or something along the lines (despite me having 70ms~130ms)
  • I play with 160 ms ping and I've never encountered this bug: when flying I first press W then start pressing shift while keeping W pressed, and It always works. Maybe this bug occurs just with certain mounts, I use the basic mounts, llama and royal dragon, and they all work just fine.

I use the free flying mount from the trading post.
  • Well I tried pressing W and shift alternating on one being pressed before the other and simultaneously at the same time. However accelerate for flying mounts still is not working. I've even done a repair click and nothing still. It has to be a bug.
  • Ok, so either XR6 is right and you guys are doing something wrong, or the issue happens only in certain cases (particular keybinds/races/classes). What are your keybinds? What classes/races/gender combination do you play? What mount do you use? What level? Giving more information can help narrow down the possible origins or the issue.
  • I can't keybind my flying mount, and I don't think there is anything on shift. I'm a priest, elin. I use the free flying mount (I dont own any others), lv 65... Only thing I can think of is the fact I use a wireless keyboard and I know that some times my keyboard has issues sending data to the usb attached to my PC. It could be that.

    My flying mount is Crimsonhide

I have Castanic Priest, Amani Lancer, Castanic Gunner
It is an account bound mount from EMP Store.

    For my lancer.
I keybind to summon my mount with F11.
For my Gunner and Priest it's R.
The command Dive wiith C works as it should.
    Ascend Works like it should.
I already use my mouse to move my character in general yet still it's programed for this.

    Q,W,E,R,D,~ Are keybound to skills.

The main thing is shift...it is instructed for Accelerate as you can see and it doesn't do it.

Below is an image of the instructions of the flying mount to the right.

I use a wireless keyboard too. and a wireless mouse. Logitech.
  • @RimbaldiOfTera Maybe it's our wireless keyboard and mouse. I think I have... "Microsoft Wireless Desktop 850 Optical Keyboard & Mouse Combo" so... what do ya think? <3
  • @NPCPak I won't rule that out. It's a possible reason. The only way to know for sure if those are the problem is if I bought usb keyboard and mouse set up. The last ones I had got coffee spilt on it, the ones I am using happen to have been my back ups. I won't rule it out. I find it a strange reason to be honest. After all its technology at its finest. It's possible though. I actually tried to keybind shift to my lower extended first in order to use it. However when I did, It said that it was an unusable key. ? Makes no sense to me, but you might be right. The oddest of problems. If you ask me the type of mouse and keyboard we use shouldn't have anything to do with this though. So this maybe one of the strangest issues.
  • @RimbaldiOfTera When I wrote "keep W and shift pressed at the same time" by W I meant the forward movement key, so if you have rebound your movement keys obviously it won't work. Try pressing shift and the forward movement key you have bound, I think It should work this way.
  • I can try that but I don't see the point. my left mouse button I use for auto run and my right button to walk. I can't use my mouse for anything else. Besides that why do I need to even use the forward commands when all I need to do is click my left mouse button and achieve that task. I should only need to press shift and only need to do that. That is my essential point here. Shift simply does not work like it is expected to work. I shouldn't have to press this or that with shift in order for it to work. I should only have to press shift and only shift for accelerate to work. There is literally something wrong with the coding of this feature in order for shift to be the only thing needed to be pressed for accelerate.

I don't have super quick fingers, I don't have long fingers even. I'm not dexterious to spread my hands in odd directions. My Point is the user interface is NOT working like it is SUPPOSED to work.

I should only have to press shift and ONLY shift. I press shift and nothing happens. Period.

I should be able to keybind my board anyway I see necessary to my playing style along with my mouse and just press shift for accelerate to work. I will try what you suggest, but that still does not resolve the problem that shift does not work like it is supposed. to on user interface. My shift key is actually fine it's not broker I use it for other programs. Please understand the point is "Shift" is the only thing that should be pressed for accelerate according to that Tera User Interface and it doesn't. The Combat Key Bindings in FACT should not even effect the flying mount features. After all we don't fight in the sky as it is.

    Still I will try this.
  • Nope it didn't work. The coding of the flying mount needs to be fixed. I should only have to press shift for the mount to accelerate. That's all there is to it.

Ok... so I figured the bug..
    It is keybindings.

I made a fresh character on another server to test this theory mention @FlorettaSoup.

The accelerate button with shift does work provided that NOTHING has been bound to those keys for "forward" movements. Such as the arrow key or W.

For me this is unacceptable. So in part truth the coding of the flying mount system is glitched. The flying mount interface should not even be effected by our combat binding system.

The needs of the flying mount interface should be entirely separate.

    @Mods

I feel like that his needs to be moved to the suggestions thread at this time and brought to another light.

Suggestion: Make Option for Flying Mount Shortcut command keybind system separate from combat keybinding system. Neither interface should affect the other.
