Stealth sorc nerf

I had a sneaking suspicion that sorc was having even worse mana problems this patch than last patch. This reddit post confirms the reason as warp barrier not restoring mana on hit https://www.reddit.com/r/TeraOnline/comments/4kcp9v/ded_class_psa_i_think_they_broke_warp_barrier/ . Upon further testing, it has come to my attention that warp barrier cannot block against debuff damage such as bleeds anymore. I hope that this is an EME screwup and not an intentional "fix" by BHS to nerf the weakest, yet most difficult class in the game. This is a huge issue for sorcs since warp barrier provided the only advantage a sorc has over new broken classes such as ninja, brewlar, gunner. If this was an intentional change, this will be the straw that broke the camel's back for me after constant neglect and abuse from an incompetent game designer to try and earn money from people switching to the newest op class.

  • It's going to be something BHS did one way or another, as EME can't mess with skills. Whether it's a bug or a feature, who knows. It may also be something that gets adjusted again in a future patch.
  • It sucks how there's almost no outrage about this because not many people play sorc anymore. If a crucial skill for gunner/brewlar/ninja/reaper got nerfed the forums would probably explode. It just feels like BHS is trying to get rid of sorcs.

SIlly little elin, Butthole studio wants you to abandon the old classes and play the new ones.

Im not completely sure, but i believe the skill was suppose to negate dmg, but not debuffs like bleeds originally. the mp thing i shall test myself too :open_mouth:
  • Yeah, they just give attention to the new classes take this for example

"During the event, you’ll get double the usual XP from killing monsters. When you hit the following milestone levels, you’ll receive a special gift in parcel post:
65: Hardy Niveot (×4), special costume or weapon skin
Ninja: Kunoichi Robe (costume) and Butterfly Shuriken (weapon skin)
Brawler: Black Powerpulse Fists (weapon skin)
    Gunner: Thetan Will Suit (costume)
    Reaper: Scoundrel's Scythes (weapon skin)
All other classes: Nightforge PvP weapon skin"

    all other classes.. lmfao

tbh bro id quit sorc for now

Well, that in particular is because there never were any exclusive costumes or weapon skins for that class at launch (since armor costumes and weapon skins weren't done this way at launch). All the other new classes are just repeated what was offered at their launch. Maybe the old classes are neglected, but this in particular doesn't have that deep of a meaning.
  • Which bleed are u referring to? WB is a OP broken skill almost as much as stoneskin. In df if you wb on poison lines you don't take dot. Last content you got ghost debuff/gravestone if you used wb in Fi. In uppers wb would cancel out the queen debuff and put poison on you. Not sure on the mana thing, I don't rely on wb for mana. As far as I can tell wb works like it always has.

I wouldn't know about the debuffs because I didn't play Sorceror before this patch.

However, my interpretation of the skill is that it negates straight up damage and not Status Effects, and should give +X% MP when you negate damage.

It doesn't give my Sorceror MP when I negate damage... So I consider at least that part broken.
  • It's probably something that was broken by BHS (wouldn't be the first time they broke a shield skill). Others are right, Warp Barrier was never meant to shield from getting debuffs, only from damage. It can shield you from the damage caused by DoT debuffs the same as Mana Barrier can, but neither can/are supposed to stop you from getting the debuff in the first place. Them breaking the MP return from WB hits isn't that big of a deal in PvE, where you don't really get sustained hits enough for it to be something to rely on. In PvP I can see it being an annoyance (no more free mana from people using hailstorm on you in CS) but the MP return has really always just been a bonus rather than the main reason to use the skill.

Maybe the lack of sorc outrage on this is A) we didn't notice (I certainly didn't, but I haven't been running CS much this patch), B) it's not much of a nerf as in PvE it might tick 2-3 times at most, and C) we aren't as whiny as brawlers/reapers/gunners/ninjas are about required nerfs as they love being op. We get decent MP reductions in class changes 9 and even more in 10, along with the 20% crit chance glyphs on FB and VP becoming double chance in changes 10 (KTera results on these glyphs show ~80% minimum crit rate). Also a 15% buff to hailstorm against monsters. Too bad they're PvE only changes.

The extra mana from warp is actually very noticeable, I played sorc very aggressively, warping multihit attacks such as first boss fihm's spin or queen's lasers. While it may not have ever been intended to cancel bleeds and oneshots like the queen's debuffs, removing that effect simply makes an already weak and difficult to play class worse.
  • So i forgot to click on the reddit link earlier. So in playing my Sorc tonight I noticed that Warp Barrier behaves like it always has with the exception of the MP regen. Some mechanics will still go through it and others won't. In DS uppers on queen i know that insufficient won't hurt you until WB is off. When taking 1 of the 3 debuffs for the circle mechanic it would put a poison debuff on you and remove any of the 3 debuffs if you had one. Also at 1 sec left on one of those debuffs you could WB and not die when the debuff wore off. Even with its faults WB is a OP skill. Now the thing i'd really like to know about sorc is why FB with a 20% crit glyph crits less then Nova/VP/AP/Hailstorm on avg. Though it really depends on the dungeon. Was really noticeable in Uppers when we had DS2.

As far as I know it works the same as Gunner's recall, in which case, that doesn't work at the 2nd boss of finm now either from what I saw with a Gunner in the group. Of course, you aren't going to mention that though since it doesn't fit with your agenda. Anyways, the attack doesn't kill you anymore unless you're low, so the change is justified honestly.
  • Seems like WB got turned into a iframe (backstep class) rather than damage absorber skill since when you use it you dont get hit for 0 damage it just misses would explain why you dont get mana back and finm does damage

This is just great like we didn't have enough problems as it is. I wonder if this is only a bug on our version or it's present on KTera as well and if it got fixed or basically intended change. Yosha comment on this please if you can. Even if it got fixed that would mean we have to endure this until good knows how long, thanks to BHSs obsession with bundled patches.

Pretty sure each skill has it's own base crit chance this is obvious if you remember Flame Pillar. And guess FB has lowest of all of our skills.
