Newbies take on TERA

So here goes,

Mature Player coming to TERA, Graphics are nice if a little dated by comparison to newer MMORPG, combat is interesting and not just mash one button, gearing is fun questing constantly giving minor upgrades.

Storyline is nice and interesting if you appreciate the lore and actually read what is being said.

You can easily out level areas by being a completionist I have made Level 49 and am doing Level 42-45 Quests.

My one and only gripe and could probably see me walking away is the artificial blocks of requiring to group to progress, I managed to Solo the first 2 5 man dungeons by out levelling them and taking my time but now I am at a sticking point with Dark Dreams Sundered, impossible for lower level to solo the timed part and then the final boss again impossible to solo, so I jumped ahead and now I get to Freeing Kaidun and not possible at 49.

Being new finding anyone to group with is impossible as the odd occasion you even see anyone in the 'lowbie' areas it is a high level levelling an alt / friend / guildie.

Maybe being a Euro and playing on the NA Servers was not a wise move but the toxic comments about the EU Servers / Devs made me pick NA.

Yes I could buy a ticket to get to 60 in an instant but for a first run through I feel I would be missing a lot of content so what to do suggestions are welcome.

don't know your class but most can solo, protecting jelena though can be difficult if not impossible on some classes (the only timed part i could think of in your level range as CR is pretty typical except for that) at worst...or best just advertise for someone to get you through it. you'll lose out xp, won't be able to complete repeatable quests but you'll get completion with main quests.

Cant you just spam battlegrounds? i think they added some for low level players, anyway the new class is coming soon(wish i knew exactly when), those first days after release are the best time to level new characters, since all dungeons will be pretty active.

You really shouldn't have problems finding groups. In the vanguard menu, there's a big 'find group' button for every dungeon, no need to know anyone (although I would strongly suggest getting into a guild).

I have Altitus, I always make Alt on every server and play the game. I like to do casual stuff since my time zone and ping is not so late game friendly.

My advice for you, When reached 20, you can que up for dungeons, kill bams from vanguard quest log or do the highest XP rewarding vg quest while waiting for que to pop. If you are not Elite, you can do Kumas Royale and get those 2, 24 hours XP boosts. It gets boring but it is efficient. When got to 60, leave everything behind, use the teleport you get by reaching 60, Airship platform, From there, vanguard story quests starts, you get gears, good amount of gold and XP, while doing that, you can que for MC, Sabex, Cata. When reached 65, and did gear quest done, you can go back, and do quests, you can easily solo everything and dungeons will be quick, so you can follow story too, stage by stage.

Thanks for the responses, but now that I have level'd past the 'ideal' for the dungeons when I try matching then it only shows the ones I am in range for and not the ones I want to do.
I am playing a Ranger and the Timed part of keeping Jelena alive in the mansion was easy compared to the keep Davina alive in the Cultest Refuge.

I guess as I'm UK it will be a case of waiting for the new class and try piggy back as people level them up.

I am looking for a Guild but really need one my time so if anyone knows a TR Guild with US Early birds or EU prime time let me know, would appreciate some guild spam.

I see that you don't get many groups on Instance Matching then?
Don't use it or you just don't get into a group during the time you wait? I can understand the later, if you're a DPS getting into instances for lower level dungeons is a pain.
Anyway you'll probably be getting a group for those if you wait on queue long enough, it can take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour tho depending on dungeon, time of the day, and your class.
