    What were they even testing? I was under the impression that regular wipes would happen--but that would indicate they would have this around for like, more than a month certainly. How could they possibly have gotten what they wanted from it already?

    They were testing the server infrastructure -- the data center and architecture. So they would have gotten what they wanted by observing how people's ping times were and how stable things were.
