    If there's a way to hide the guide that pops up every time you mount, I'd be very interested in learning how as well.

    This has been talked about before, and nothing was done about it AFAIK. Would be worth incorporating into a future patch; while I'm not a professional by any stretch of the imagination, I couldn't see it being a very difficult thing to implement a "hide" option for that part of the UI while flying.
