New PvP Gear Discussion Thread
Hi everyone,
I had a thread on the old forums about the upcoming gear, thought I would just recreate it here to continue the discussion as we get closer to the patch.
We will be using Yoshas List as it is the most updated one and provides a comparison to current gear
DPS (VM gear assumed to be +15)
Weapon: VM7 > Starfall > Champion
Chest: Starfall > Champion > VM7 (Starfall still has the most PvP defence lines. Champion has a higher defence mod and 12% pvp dmg reduction but that is it, VM7 has no PvP specific reductions
Gloves: Champion > Starfall > VM7 (Starfall has 3% dmg and 7 PvP attack / Champion has 6% pvp dmg / VM7 has 3% dmg only but has the highest defence.
Boots: Starfall > VM7 > Champion (Starfall boots still have the most pvp lines. Champion has ZERO PvP lines. VM7 only has crit resist.
Healer Gear
Weapon: Champion > VM7 > Starfall (Your probly thinking wtf, but the champion weapon has 6% reduced dmg from players PvP healing is all about how tanky you are.
Chest: Same as DPS. Starfall>Champion>VM7
Gloves: Starfall > Champion > VM7 (The new gloves have no healing settings which also means for PvP no defensive settings on gloves only offense. VM6 will remain the best gloves for healers.
Boots: Starfall > VM7 > Champion (Again new boots offer no additional PvP defences and the difference between +15 Starfall boots and +15 vm7 boots is only around 800 defence. Starfall wins due to extra 4 endurance, and 10 PvP defence.
Please discuss, share your thoughts or point out any mistakes I made in the rankings.

Starfall gets +12 PvP defense, +6% PvP damage reduction, and +6% overall damage reduction. But the new champion chest gets +12% PvP damage reduction, which is about equal to the PvP lines of Starfall. That just leaves Starfall with the +6% damage decrease, which champion doesn't have. But the defense of champion is 14% higher than Starfall.
Now, we don't know exactly how defense and % reductions come into play, but I'd say the new champion is likely to be slightly better, or so close that it doesn't even matter.
Also, the VM7 Weapon does get PvP defense. But I'll probably go with champion anyways, since +15 is dumb, and because I'll get extra power from set bonus.
As a healer, though, I'm definitely going with Starfall boots and gloves, over champion. So silly that they made no chamion healing gloves...
So as a healer, I plan to get +12 champion weapon, +12 champion chest, champion belt, +15 Starfall gloves, and +15 Starfall boots.
If not for the gloves being so terrible for a healer, I'd probably go full champion just for the set bonus and ease of obtaining.
Thanks for the outline!
Thanks! Good to know
+13 Starfall****
dps from behind starfall is better as it has the behind damage top roll, vm7 does not have that and overall has less rolls on gear pieces that starfall.
Can someone clarify what names are what tier gear in the upcoming patch?
Well, these were placeholder names and Treeshark gave us the real names but I just kept calling them the placeholders
Shining/Champion will be called Conflate (its the new Tier 9 PvP set, this has high base stats but cannot be awakened, therefore it is cost efficient)
Imperator is VM7.
I see, is this conflate set a weaker version of VM7, like schisma/dreadnaught? Or are they on par with one focusing PVE and the other PVP?
I wonder if I can jump straight from Dreadnaught to Conflate. Already got maxed out credits, hopefully enough feedstock/alkahest/spellbind and a full dyad set, wouldn't want to MW Verno and then scrap it, kind of a waste
