The real question is why do you have 17 characters

because some of us enjoy the game and like playing with different characters. some use them to make gold. some people like to use different ones to role play with. some people like to dress up different races with different classes. I like playing the game with different characters and I use maybe 2 to help farm stuff. I also have some with unique names.
my question is, why are people so concerned with why people have more than one character to play with. those character slots were bought by someone in the cash shop, so its not like eme didn't make any money from it. I have 17 on av, and 10 on ch. I take turns maining on different servers. I get bored playing with people on av, then I play on ch.
I don't play the broker, I don't sell names, I don't exploit the game. I like variety. I hope this clears up any questions on why people play with more than one character on a server.
  • i ask mainly becuz i do have max chars (17 currently atm) and reason i have so many is A.] i have one of every class B.] warrior has two modes tank/dps i have one of both built same with zerk that way i dont have to carry multiple jewels/armors etc. on one char C.] i like playing with the different race/class assortments as like male castanic and male high elf both sorc could have very different clothing becuz of race basis then female castanic/high elf sorc would be different again becuz of [filtered] change so right now i have 17 chars 1 of every class 2nd of zerk and warrior i also have a 2nd mystic and right now building a 2nd sorc not because i need them but becuz i want variety i main a elin mystic or a high elf male warr my 2nd mystic is high elf female and my second warr is elin but my new sorc is high elf male again becuz leather / cloth r different becuz of class basis so if one day i dont feel like playing on my warr but wanna play a high elf i got my sorc so i spend alot more time lvling chars then i do actually end game farming and i normally end up spending fashion coupons emp or clothing ive had stocked up unused on other chars becuz they alrdy have like 5 different outfits on the new chars by the time i hit 65 i no longer wanna delete wash repeat becuz ive spent some kind of in game currency [cash currency or not] on the new char so opening even just the full 3rd page would be what 24 chars and id not only be spending money [in game and rl] for clothing/accessories but also for the char slots so in my personal opinion as long as this games been around theres no revenue loss in opening it for us ALSO on the multiple account thing say someone rly did have 3 accts all with elite all maxed to 17 chars (now) and you opened it to 24 per server now they will either spend gold in game or rl cash to buy the extra char slots for all 3 accounts and since theres not ALOT of events ive ever seen with char exspansions for free they are making money somehow from somewhere even if we buy the slot from someone else ig and im pretty sure that yes maybe theres only like 15-25% of us tht rly use all the char slots but even that % out of how many millions of players cause we not only get players from america but also other countrys so if that 15-25% spend more money to get the char slots u just increased your profits from those 15-25% players and maybe even got more people to be given the chance if they ever want to to spend the same amount its rly a win-win no matter what

From what I've heard, storage is quite expensive. And every char slot costs storage.
To be a bit more precise, the storage itself is not so expensive but the whole package. The data is not only stored once, but at least twice. It's mirrored to a backup or data storage plus there are security measurements running (I think they are called snapshots). But this is only what I heard, so I have no idea if this is the real reason for limitation (why not give us 100 slots per account?).

Industrial cost of storage is $5000 per tb. Also "cloud" doesnt literally mean magically in the cloud, it just means that most ppl pay a big provider for space. The cloud is still physical arrays in the datacenter.

PS: You are basing your knowledge of a cloud storage system, in which your logic is actually flawed because most services actually have to prepare more physical space and redundancy than intended for users. This is the same for game servers, they always prepare extra storage and redundancy whenever you know a new class is coming out or new maps etc.

Local phone companies (AT&T for example) do exactly as ELove said, at no point in time can a O.E. / single switch card (on the switch I once worked on @ Bham Main and Tow ( lata tandem)) go above 65% usage or it will cause the card to crash as the cards physically are not capable of handling the 100 directory #s assigned to it. So if guy # 66 picks up his phone while 65 other people are talking that block of 100 will go down until that card is replaced in the switch.

LOL must be using nokia (not alcatel's recently acquired stuff). But let's be honest if youre still on ATM networks ... you have bigger fish to fry

I didn't say you had to use just one... but using 17+ is a lot! I used to use 12 lvl 65s at one point to gear in low-tier and farm gold and I got tired of it reaalll quick lol. It made the game feel like a 2nd job and I'd rather play something else at that point. If it makes you happy though go for it.
