SSHM "Minimum item level of 414."

Patch notes for Tuesday 5/24: http://tera.enmasse.com/news-page/patch-notes/patch-420603

So... I was under the impression EME was gonna look into reducing the item level required in order to get the vanguard request completion at the end of a dungeon. As said here: http://forums.enmasse.com/tera/discussion/comment/8537/#Comment_8537

TO BE FIXED 5/24 DURING MAINTENANCE
  • Instance Reset Scrolls will work for the new dungeons
  • Ghillieglade entries for Elite
  • Fashion Coupons dropping from open world BAMs, as well as SES and CC
  • CS queue from 2 to 5.
  • Lowering iLevel Requirements for Vanguard Quests

414 item level is too much, you pretty much do need full +12 Slaughter gear + decent inner/brooch/jewelry to get that. This would be alright but it forces people in non +15 Starfall pieces to replace them, and that gear is completely fine to clear all the content. So why must we be forced to meet an arbitrary item level that is too high to get vanguard rewards for completing a dungeon all the same?

I understand having an item level requirement for instance matching, but completing the dungeon should be equally rewarding regardless of gear level, especially if boosting the item level with Slaughter pieces actually means losing performance, including dyads.
Lowered the item level requirements of some Vanguard Requests.
This is on the patch notes but it really doesn't help if the main issue, the very high requirement for SSHM, is not addressed.

Well, the patch notes do say "Lowered the item level requirements of some Vanguard Requests." But, I guess it isn't specific about which ones are being reduced.

Given that they just reduced the level for other vanguard requests this time, it's possible they could reduce it again for other things later. Presumably the reason do have some sort of lower limit is so that people aren't dragging the rest of the party down in instance matching, even though item level is an incomplete measure. And now they've tied the levels for matching to the levels for vanguard rewards, probably to simplify the whole process (but with the net effect of limiting choice). What would be a more appropriate limit?

Yeah, it could be they forgot to reflect the change to the original requirement, or failed to be a bit more specific. I'm hoping for some clarification, if not, we'll see what happens tomorrow.
  • For the hardest 5 star dungeon (listed in Instance Matching menu) dungeon of the patch, the item level always follows a full +12 mid tier set that is "properly" rolled and with updated jewelry. Last patch it was FIHM, which required item level 402, which was basically full +12 Dreadnaught with updated Captain's accessories. This patch, it's SSHM, which requires full +12 Slaughter with updated jewelry. I don't see anything wrong with that item level.

Now, I do agree that the whole VG system of requiring you to meet that item level to receive rewards a bit stupid, but the item level 414 itself seems to be in line with that. Although I'm a bit nervous about healers reaching that item level, since Slaughter gloves are really bad for them (lack healing rolls).

Were you expecting iLv402 for SSHM ¬.¬?

It was possible for me to get the item level for FIHM with just two +12 Dreadnaught pieces (weapon and chest if I recall correctly) though.

I was expecting "not 414" since it was said by Spacecats they'd be looking into reducing the requirement when the same concerns were voiced in the past. The source for that is provided on the opening post.

SSHM wasn't even out when Spacecats said that.
  • I agree its too high having to replace pieces that are good enough for clearing the dungeon but dont meet that "ilvl" is dumb.ima have to +15 a starfall glove i was wearign to be able to enter now its stupid

No, we were hoping for iLv0 for SSHM. Scratch that, for ALL VG dailies.

It's already bad enough that they made this new gear have a huge jump over Starfall. Adding ilevel lockout to that is just kicking someone while they're down.

Both of my healers are 410 (tensus/starfall & starfall/lucid) and are fine for clearing all content. I don't have any desire of acquiring/enchanting lesser gear just so I have enough 'ilvl' to get the vanguard rewards. I agree that the ilvl requirement should only apply for instance matching and that it should be lower for the vanguard quest rewards.

I'm sure it's fine. plus, the item level requirement is for ims, so unless you want to queue for the hardest dungeon in the game, then i see no problem here

(ok idk how to quote on mobile)

did...did you not read any of the comments here?

we dont care about ims ilvl what we want is VANGUARD REWARDS which is locked at the same ilvl as ims

Locking vanguards behind ilvl is just dumb especially now with a feedstock "crisis". T9 feed is still ~35g on my server last time i checked....

I would really really really really love to have vanguards with no ilvl restriction, but i just cant see eme doing that.

Then whats the next best thing?
IMO: change sshm vanguard ilvl to 409, lower ssnm to whatever, which they already are

I agree on this request about lowering/removing i-level from vanguard quest, but keeping it for IMS. Not sure if EME still needs BHS approval for this or whatever, though, evenn when they said they will lower it. Maybe they can only lower the whole thing as an unit.
  • I agree the whole ilvl tied to VG rewards is stupid. Healers especially perform just as well if not better with older gears (myself included).
Well, the patch notes just state the min ilvl for the two dungeons, but doesn't say that is required for VG rewards, so I guess there is still hope for us ><

Usually the ilvl required for the dungeon is the ilvl required to get the VG as well
  • You can always form a party outside of IMS and walk-in. Item level doesn't block entry to the dungeon.
