Trouble With Res on Last VSNM Boss

Hi, I was wondering if someone could please explain how to iframe the res claw in VS. I know the timing and that's not an issue, it's where to iframe to. I play priest so jaunting out is not an option. I've tried backstepping backwards, to the side, diagonally, everything that you can think of. But every single time I get hit by the second line of claw. I really can't figure this out. Please help!

Usually what I do is stay in place when he starts to put the purple circle on me - that way, it becomes the "reference". Then, I point my camera from him and move it about 30 degrees from where he is. When his eyes glow red (or some split second before it), i-frame. You end up in the middle of two claw lines, and he won't be able to pull you back.

Another option is that when he targets you, Fiery Escape and then Backstep in succession. This will move you far enough to not get hit by the claw, and doing the Backstep after the Fiery Escape (not before) guarantees you i-frame even if you screw up the distance.

If you're backstepping diagonally and still getting hit you're doing it wrong. For one it has to be diagonally only slightly and to a decent range, because you'll be hit by withdrawal if you're too close after it. If you know the timing you can backstep behind him no problem too.
As said earlier, F-escape+backstep to 22 meter range and you'll be safe as well.

You could get closer and iframe into him so you'll be behind him when he does the 2nd claw attack

Also to add - if it's specifically the resurrection-triggered claw though, you should just time your ress when Lakan is in animation lock (eg. started or in the middle of a sword attack sequence); that way, when he finally do target you, you'd have had enough time to position yourself correctly. Ressing people when the boss is idle or has no choice but to turn to you would just get you to a bad situation.

If you face his right side, his eye flashes. Try to backstep as near as possible to the timing of his first hit and the iframe will last long enough to dodge the pullback.
