Not being the case, try it why not? Just cause some people have a negative opinion doesn't make it all negative (specially something free to play, you can play as long as you want without spending a cent on this... Very few reasons to not even give a try)
Also there's Elins
Best free MMO hands down, you can actually do everything in the game for free without having to put unreasonable amounts of playtime in if you plan to play for free.
Great combat, either the best combat in an MMO or definately on par with any other top action based combat MMO.
Mostly good graphics and character models.
Very fun classes with most being very easy to start up and play with a couple exceptions.
Some pay to win aspects but nothing to major I've seen games much much worse.
TERA has a community manager that actually does his job.
Bad:
Poorly optimized, will run ok on a beast machine but even with a beast you'll get some poor performance. Very CPU heavy if you have a good CPU you'll be fine.
Latency has been an issue especially in the last couple months.
Content is somewhat lacking.
A minor issue but things like cosmetics and items in the cash shop have been very poorly thought out and designed lately.
2) If you want to try the game, the game has simplified the levelling process, so you shouldn't have too much of a difficulty levelling.
3) There is still a learning curve, and it might be quite steep for many. Depends on how used you are to action games rather than tab-target.
4) If you have a budget tier pc, don't expect good framerates even on low.
5) Still one of the best PvE games out there despite the lack of content. I guess I am asking too much, but most games have a very boring PvE.
6) If you are like me and will get bored if you spam the same 10ish dungeons, you probably don't have any game to play already.
7) Really beautifully drawn characters despite it being an old game.
Classes who kill the Pvp system due to bad balancing (or non existing balance).
Mm maybe u can enjoy the game if u like killing mobs all day.
He can now compare the qualities detailed by the posters with those he knows he likes in a game to better determine if he feels it is worth a try.
That still doesn't help. Plenty of times I've been recommended games because I liked all of the features and I ended up not liking the games as a whole for one reason or another. You can never judge from other's opinions.
In any case, it isn't foolproof. Liking all the features of a game improves the chance you will like it overall, but it doesn't guarantee it. Then again, the OP isn't looking for a guarantee, but information to help him assess the likelihood of his enjoyment of it.
The playing of the game is always the best determinant, but why play it at all if your research beforehand suggests it won't be a game you like. This is the research beforehand stage, where the OP is deciding if he will even bother downloading the game to give it a go.
Pros:
-Model designs
-Visuals
-Gameplay
-Constant updates
-Large variety of classes/races
Cons
-Horrible optimzation (dx9 level,early UE3 version )
-Non-existent core engine/ui updates(redesigned doesn't mean core update)
-Class inbalance
-Horrible PvP
-Lack of content (bad events, poor rewards)
-Horrible player driven economy (prices on tradebroker are out of this world, supply/demand pure speculated by rich players)
-Gear grind is eternal due to lack of variety in options (this is publishers fault for letting to few options)
-RNG (if it hits you ur toast, customer support will say "u have realy bad rng" aka they don't care)
-Unfixed bugs known for years
-Every patch brings new bugs, exploits and so on
-Lag and I mean realy bad lag (this is cause by zayo as far as my peering goes)
-Time eater (unless u have time to spend or friends to help u,this its like a 2nd job)
-Gender class lock
- True action combat, hardly any other games can compare with this
- Deadly and dangerous boss fights in endgame dungeons that require much more skill than gear stats
- Hardly P2W, maybe except dragons
- Many classes, each with unique roles and skills
- FREE to play
-ve about Tera:
- Not optimized, sudden ping spikes, lags, freezes, fps drops, bugs, exploits, glitches
- Gender and race locked classes
- PvP is hardly existent, along with crafting
- Classes are not balanced well
- RNG in enchanting can be a [filtered]
- Lacking in new content other than new dungeons and new gear
