New - Which is probably the best tank class for me ?
Hey,
i played WoW for many years but i decided to cancel my subscription mainly because of the artifact weapon, raid finder with players doing nothing or only stupid things and the arrogant comm .. community and content were much better some years ago.. maybe its only my realm. Doesnt matter.. i decided to test Tera.
I only played the tank role .. especially Paladin. I would like to play tank in Tera too because i would like to play a important role for dungeons or raids without getting bored. I always found it boring to play dps role in WoW i dont know how it is in Tera.
Can u guys give me some advice and tell me the difference between the tank classes here ? Is it different from WoW ?
Thanks in advance

brawler is a casual tank, the designe for people uneskilled, but you need know about how tank in tera
Otherwise, Steven above is pretty correct.
Lancer is probably the closest to what you are used to.
Brawler is simpler to learn, so more casual people try it for a first taste of tanking. This leads to Brawlers having a "reputation".
Warrior tank is RARE due to difficulty, but once mastered is a thing of beauty to watch. I would suggest trying one of these eventually, but maybe not for your first experience, unless you are a gaming God with low ping and fast reflexes and a mind like a steel trap.
Berserker tanks are also rare--I don't know enough about them to say why.
Tanks are a rare and precious resource in TERA. IF you are good you will be appreciated by many.
And cursed by a few just because there always seems to be someone who does that, I dunno why. Ignore them, please.
I would suggest Lancer. They have multiple shield abilities, which you'll be accustomed to since you played a Paladin.
They have a short range aoe hit ability called Shield Barrage, which is somewhat akin to Hammer of the Righteous in that it has short range.
Then you have Spring Attack, which you can probably liken to Judgment or Crusader Strike - your best skill that should be used off CD. It must always be chained after Shield Barrage, Shield Bash, Shield Counter or Debilitate.
There are a number of other skills like Debilitate which is a defence debuff. Track it like you would track Holy Power (except you don't expend it) and you're good to go.
Taunt aka Challenging Shout works just like the old Challenging Shout/Roar in WoW. AoE 'hey attack me for a short while' kind of deal.
There's a lot more to it, but overall Lancer would probably be best. Think of your block as a super spammable Shield of the Righteous that you need to use often inbetween skills to protect yourself. You *can* be healcarried but the general safety of yourself is your responsibility, just like in WoW.
Disclaimer: I'm not especially familiar with warriors and warrior tanking, so if any of my warrior information is incorrect, feel free to correct me. Same goes for zerkers and zerker tanking, so please take that information with a grain of salt.
Basic Info
Tanking in Tera involves the character having aggro (big red circle) of a boss, and actively blocking incoming attacks. In order to actively block an attack, the player must use a corresponding skill that has a block function. You cannot permanently stand there and block, as you need to be attacking and using other skills to generate and maintain aggro. A good tank gets hit by as few attacks as possible by using their block skills at the best possible times.
Tanking Classes & Info
With this in mind, there are four classes that have the capabilities to tank.
Lancer and Brawler are a "pure" tank class, meaning they will only ever be queued in a dungeon as a tank.
Warrior and *Berserker are a "hybrid" tank class, meaning that they have the option to queue as a tank OR a DPS. Hybrid classes have to use a skill to change stances - normal or "assault" stance for attack, and "intimidation" or "defensive" stance for tanking.
* Note that Berserkers cannot properly tank until Lv. 65.
Lancers have various taunts/shouts and have a manual block button which raises their shield to negate damage. They also have the most amount of party-wide buffs that boost endurance and power to you and all nearby party members. Lancers only have one frontal block attack/skill. Lancers also have a significant self-heal skill.
Brawlers have fewer taunts, but their specialty is to block while attacking - many of their attacks (IF COMBO'D CORRECTLY) can have a frontal block, so you do not have to stop attacking to manually block an incoming attack as frequently. They do not have any party-wide buffs. Brawlers have a decent self-heal skill. In addition, Brawlers also have a passive that saves them from a killing blow once every 5(?) minutes.
Warriors were updated to become on par with Lancers. They have many iframes (invincibility frames) and also have a block skill, and can offer good DPS. Warriors do not have many party-wide buffs, and require a high skill level + good ping and fps in order to play properly. They only have one attack that has a frontal block effect - if this skill is on cooldown, all incoming attacks must either be iframed or manually blocked. Warriors do not have a self-heal skill.
Berserkers were never intended to tank - thus their tanking skills can seem awkward and can give the impression that they were hastily added last-minute. Maintaining aggro on a zerker tank is difficult because the majority of your major damage skills are charge attacks, making aggro maintenance difficult for bosses that attack in short spurts rather than those with long wind-up animations. It is usually better to have a zerker DPS than tank, as they have very few party-wide buffs and have only one taunt (they do not have an enrage taunt like the other classes do). Zerkers do not have any frontal block attacks. Zerker tanks have a very small self-heal skill as well as a lifesteal attack.
While most of these classes generate aggro in their own different ways (such as Lancers having 3 aggro shouts, and Brawlers generating aggro by comboing attacks that have a frontal block effect), they can still be considered challenging - you have to adapt to the situation and learn boss attacks (this is especially important if you ever decide to run Hard Mode dungeons). Because Tera is an action combat MMO + it is an MMO that gives players benefits from attacking from certain faces of the boss (amplified crit damage from behind/back of the boss, side of the boss, and front of the boss) positioning - deciding where to try and tank a boss in the room- in a dungeon is crucial. Your DPS cannot deal proper damage if the boss' back is up against a wall.
Suggestions on what you should do
Regarding which tanking class would interest you best is highly dependent on how you want to tank and your experience with the game.
I will state one thing I've noticed in releveling various tank classes - if you're new to Tera, your best options for the easiest time in learning how to tank in Tera are either the Lancer or Brawler class.
HOWEVER. Lancer skills have an extremely high mana cost early on in the game, to the point where leveling a lancer from 1-30 can be difficult (especially if you're new and you aren't constantly using battle solutions). I would suggest that you begin with a Brawler just to get a feel of a tank's responsibilities. Keep in mind, that because Brawlers are easy to play and easy to learn, they can become very boring quickly.
I would only suggest playing Warrior or Berserker purely as a tank class if you are experienced in the game, as they require a high level of skill to play efficiently. This does not devalue Lancers or Brawlers, but Warriors and Zerkers must but in additional effort in order to tank properly.
Probably missed something in that ramble of text but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Tanks just dps in front and imo fairly easy currently especially for brawlwerz this patch.
