Island of dawn

Oh how I miss this starting area. don't much care for the crying child kinda annoying now that I am an empty nester. Still catches me off guard and I end up looking aroung in my house for a crying child. How does that happen

hopefully when or if they bring tera to consoles, maybe they will bring back the original island of dawn.

I'm not sure if the consoles would be the answer to the return of the island of dawn... I'd do just about anything for its return. The Island of Dawn was my happy place... throwing thousands of gold coins at newbies just to see their character jump in joy.

There's no way that they would bring back the old Island of Dawn for console release.

Even assuming that console servers are separate from NA's PC servers, bringing back the old IoD would mean removing the current solo content Island of Dawn.

they didn't remove the solo content from poro elinu because of reapers...they have the reapers starting area there and the regular in game area there. so why cant they do both for the island of dawn? they could have it where you choose between starting area iod or 65 iod. they can make stepstone isle a level 30 or more area and have iod as starting area again. when you want to go to iod, have to where you have a choice between the 2.

No, we have to go back further, and add the prologue. when you started lv20 on one of the initial expeition on Island of Dawn fighting along side elleon. And then you fight a big Kuma and it ends with Karascha wiping the expedition.

(but i guess is probably not cannon anymore...?)
  • The reason they eliminated Island of Dawn was because the map was way too large for the amount of time they wanted users to spend in the tutorial as part of the accelerated leveling process. Although it was a very pretty-looking map, the quest flow in its later state was not a good experience; it was a map designed for the quest flow at launch, when it took at least 2-3x as long to level to 11. The new Stepstone Isle, as much as people seem to hate the theme and the story (and perhaps the fact that a lot of it is stuck in solo instances), is a much more focused game tutorial, with less time spent running around and more combat encounters. I think those were BHS's objectives when designing the level.

So all this to say, if they bring it back as a starting zone, they'd probably also have to rework the entire early-game quest flow. A map of that size with today's pacing is probably more like levels 1 through 20, at least. The fact is, the TERA world is just way too large for the amount of time they expect you spend in it now.

then they could extend the leveling to 20. its not like people really do quests around lumbertown anymore. and before people say we would out level lumbertown or wherever, we out level many places now as it is. I feel like bhs could bring back iod and alliance territories if they wanted to...key word wanted, but them trying to streamline the game and removing content has only hurt the population and game play.

Ninjas are Elin, they should start at Pora Elinu just like Reapers.

    Vanilla classes starting at IoD.

    Reapers at Pora Elinu.

    Brawlers at Stepstone Isle.

    Valks shoul start at Castanica.

    Ninjas at Val Oriyn.

    Not sure about Gunners.

Adding more options on starting point can make leveling a more apealing experience.

    nope, ninja is stepstone island

brawler start where we find orcans since than anya kill them since she was child

and i am sure valkyrie born in kanstria

    so gunner is castanica :3

LOL you all act as if bringing back the old island of dawn would change anything. Please....be realistic you barely spend time yourself in those areas so why bother, Now at least its fast, there are good token drops from iod bams plus its part of the lore so... just let it be.
  • allofspaceandtimeallofspaceandtime ✭✭✭✭✭
many of us spent a lot of time on the original island of dawn hanging out, role playing, and having fun helping the new players. many times we played hide and seek with them and gave gold as prizes to help them get started. we gave out costumes and accessories as well. so saying we barely spent any time there is wrong. I would rather have fun doing what we did before than mindlessly grind bams on the destroyed iod.
fast doesn't always equal fun for everyone. the way stepstone is set up, you cant do the things with new players as you could with original iod. I would like to see both versions of the iod in tera. if we cant, then have original iod as the starting area again, make stepstone a level 30 area, due to sameal being the bad guy and you see him there, and have bam farming in alliance territories. have different sets or tiers of bams for different alliance territories , like have the 1st set maybe in fort elena one, and the last set in iron order area.
