Downloading The Game?

How do I download Tera when it says 48 hours to finish? There's no way I'll be able to leave my laptop on for that long. Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • The game is quite big, if you download through steam or torrent you will be able to pause and resume the download at any time but might still have to download some extra data for the most recent patches afterwards, leaving your laptop to download overnight is not an option at all?
  • I've been downloading the game for 10 hours and I'm at 16%. At this rate, it will finish in 55 more hours. I'm able to leave it on for 10 hours a day or my computer greatly overheats. That means I have to wait 5 days and a half for it to finish? That is the longest download record ever for me. The second longest for me was 3 hours and I thought that was long. I hope it works and it is worth it as a new player.

I'd say it is, especially with the patch coming out around next month. Just be sure to ask for help online, and google questions and guides on gear, classes, skills, rotations, etc.

essentialmana.com is a great site for all of that, highly recommend it (not sponsored).

I'm just throwing this out there because some new players just get confused and quit, but if you're looking at ~55 hour download... that's not worth it at all if you quit after playing for 10 minutes lol. Hopefully spending some time looking stuff up online will prevent all that from happening to you.
  • Yeah you have some valid points. I need to keep researching about the game, but it seems that there are endless of new things to learn. I''m also stuck on what server to choose. I'm not really into roleplay so I know celestial hills not for me. I hear Mount Tyrannas has a lot of pros and will probably be more likely to hate new players like myself. I am not so sure about Tempest Reach but I hear it has a decent population. I'm not sure about the other ones as well. What server has the most friendly players while able to assist me as a new player?

Player personality isn't really determinable by the server you play on. If you want to have a chance of randomly being killed by a PKer, then choose PVE65 servers (like Fey Forest). If you're ONLY planning to do PvE content (like me) then I would choose Tempest Reach.

I've played on all of the servers, and while TR and MT seem similarly populated, I've always preferred playing on TR. It feels like I get into queues much faster, although I'm not sure if it's really the case of a higher player population.
  • Why isn't it determinable though? What servers has lowest rate of pker? What if you want to PvE a lot but pvp just a little bit only?
