Lootboxes are 5k right now, but doesn't necessarily mean people are consistently buying them. The lootboxes they chose are lower popularity items/costumes. There was a thread a bit ago talking about costumes and most people thought the starlight ones were ugly, same with SWAT when they were released. Flying wolves were widely seen as low effort + most people just use dragons.
I mean I guess it's something, but prices are gonna drop on the broker, so it's not free 5k.
I mean, if it's too grueling then people will just stop early. In the same way everyone doesn't get +15 right now, not everyone will bother to go all the way for top set +9. And each person who gives up will continue to run dungeons since it's all there is to do in this game. Anyone who's played one patch cycle knows that you don't need top tier gear to do the hardest content in the game. Every time they run a dungeon they'll get waaay more gold than we get currently, from thin air, with no viable way to get rid of it besides enchanting -- which they'll have very little incentive to do if it's really as painful as you're making it sound. So either way, we'll end up with a situation where lots of people acquire lots of gold and don't have a reason to part with it in large quantities.
Every time content is introduced that pumps gold into the game in a way that is farmable across multiple characters ("That Ain't Right!", ghilie giving raw gold, etc) gold inflates a crazy amount. This time won't be any different imo.
