Changes to loot boxes.

I am curious if EME will do changes to the item lists in loot boxes of all types from cash shop, elite box and strongboxes same day of the patch. I don't know if they had made any statement regarding that, but if they do change together with the upcoming patch, would be wiser to not open any loot boxes til tuesday after maintenance.

This is a colossal stretch, but maybe EME will start adopting the idea of paying a higher price directly for a premium item?

    Simple solution: Fail Cap.

Say you have 50 dollars to spend. You have X store, and then you have EME store.

In X Store, You are guaranteed to get the price you want, after spending your 50 dollars, regardless of the price of the boxes, with the chance to get the jackpot before the 50 dollars cap is met. You are getting what you pay for, and more with a little bit of luck. This tactic allows X store to get more customers, knowing they will come back because they are getting what they pay for.

On the other hand, EME store offers you lower prices, but with no guarantee that you will get what you want after spending 50 dollars. Lower prices incites you to buy more, but in the end, you will end up paying a lot more than in X store. Lower prices are good, but if the customer cannot get what they want, EME store will lose customers to X store.

Now that the Arsenal update is upon us, with the new gear progression, all items in the current loot boxes will be unusable, and will need a massive overhaul. Furthermore, if EME changes the soon unusable alkahest in the boxes, for the new ones, the store will officially become P2W, which is something EME promised never to do. Selling progression materials in the shop, no matter in what manner, is never good.

So i completely agree with @6R1MM01R3 The store needs to undergo a major overhaul:

    - Replacement content on the loot boxes for the soon to be useless extensive, premium and masterwork alkahest, QoL item would be very much appreciated, but by all means, do not replace em with the new enchanting materials, it would be a move that would devastate your shop.
    - Fail Cap added to all loot boxes. Give your customers, players, what they pay for. This is not a casino.
    - Speaking of shops, Redo also your TERA Rewards Emporium. Some rewards there are soon to be useless, and will need to be replaced with something worth gathering Emporium points for.

why would they change stuff in loot boxes? All that stuff can be converted to new tokens etc right? That would take immense amount of job and we all know how is en masse when it comes to actually doing something in those proportions. So itll most likely just stay that way, because you can transfer the mats to tokens anyway

They should at least adjust the amount of mats they give.

There are even lootboxes that cost +400 emp that gives you even less mats than many that cost 150 emp.

They tried that with the Noblesse boxes that dropped the guaranteed tokens you can trade-in for a smartbox. Obviously they didn't like the effect it had on their bottom line so they discontinued doing it on future smartboxes.

The problem with that was there was too few you got as a baseline. You got a single token from those boxes, which meant that if the Fates decreed that you not pull a Noblesse weapon from, say, 50 boxes (equaling 12,500 EMP, mind), that still only leaves you with 50 tokens, which is not enough tokens to get the weapon in that method. Also, while getting more tokens from the box was an option, it's prone to the same RNG f**kery as the weapon itself. That's a bit of a hard sell for a lot of people.

So I agree that it didn't work. I disagree about why it didn't work.
  • I thought of it mainly because given the pricing of many items in the token shop, the side prizes in alkahests and spellbinds would be somewhat worthless compared to how useful were the items pre patch (yes, regardless of the high availability of it in the market), I think gameforge now and then puts on sale the rare prize from several loot boxes as a direct purchase. Token system for dragon and noblesse boxes seemed interesting although it required about 80 tokens to get the item, provided you didnt get item before collecting the required number. Tokens were tradeable so people could sell their or buy to get the desired item, I wouldn't know if it was a marketing decision to discontinue that method.
