If we cant get legacy servers can we at least get back the features that were gutted
alright so i see people complaining about the added classes and what not and I do agree that my warrior which i played from day one is worthless compared to my reaper or ninja but i think that has more to do with the choices made by enmasse to gut all the features that drew me to this game in the first place: the unique stamina and bonfire system which made prep time before boss fights almost mandatory, the grueling difficulty which was forced me to reach out of my comfort zone and join a guild, the idea of the sky castle which gave me something to strive for a reason to want to improve and over come the difficulty. this game had a ton going for it beyond its cool combat and sweeping landscapes it had mechanics that added to the overall tone and setting and overall enhanced the game now that's gone i have max level characters, and the end game is very enjoyable but i cant convince any friend to grind up and join me and frankly i cant even justify that to my self. the game is just not fun it is standard with the exception being when you are maxed out and get a chance to role play in the massive world but that's not something that i can sell to my friends.

I have lost many friends since the foa patch and it has been hard to convince them to return, and they still haven't. I know people will talk about running all these things on alts to make money and get mats, but that is close to 10 hours a day. when a game becomes a full time job, then it isn't a game anymore.
now if bhs made tera like 2nd life and the other game where you can convert in game money to real life money, then I could understand spending 10 hours a day in a game. 2018 is really going to put tera through the fire with all the new games coming out and some coming to consoles. lets hope tera survives .
okay i get the point you're trying to drive home here but comparing warrior, one of the strongest dps AND tanks in the game currently, to ninja which is sitting pretty low on the meta chart these days for dps is.... well makes me wonder if you and i are playing the same game or perhaps maybe you just can't let go of your nostalgia.
But then, I guess the new zone is more fitting, isn't it? Because what made IoD good was that it was an introduction to the way the rest of the world would be; exploring, finding unique mobs and farming a bit for their unique drops, gathering all the nodes you found, experiencing the story, tutorial quests to explain those unique mechanics like stamina and charms, etc. But all that's sort of gone now from the "real" game, so I suppose the new intro is far more accurate, because it's far more shallow. My leveling process has basically become: queue for whatever dungeon and Kumas Royale, teleport to whatever BAMs the Vanguard system tells me I should and kill those while I wait. The only exploration is walking to the blue circles on my map, I level too fast to bother with even the main story, world bosses are solo pushovers even at an equal level and don't drop anything anyway, so many of the old mechanics are gone and all my gear comes from Vanguard tokens or relic drops; even dungeon drops are worthless when leveling, what kind of lesson is that? I feel like they wasted all of their effort making these new systems; if they're going to have us skip the entire game in an attempt to rush us to the end-game, they could've done so much more easily by simply making new characters start at level 60 or even 65.
And one thing that caught my attention a lot and almost made me return one of the times I briefly checked the game out again, was the skycastles. This was back in 2013 I think? But I saw the awesome holy- and evil-looking castles floating around Velika and I was sorely tempted to actually come back and get into whatever it was I needed to do to access those; the only reason I didn't was because I didn't have much free time back then and ultimately I just couldn't do a serious MMO commitment at the time. So I was pretty confused when I came back now and saw that all the castles are just the default ones, and I asked about it in global chat to find out that they entirely removed the system? Like, what? What sort of idiotic game design is it to just up and remove guild content like that? Changing the requirements, sure, I get that the population is smaller now, but straight up saying, "Nope, castles are gone now, too bad" and then leaving their little baby castle corpses floating everywhere in the sky as a reminder of what used to be is just mind-boggling to me.
At least they made dungeons tougher so you couldn't just solo them all I guess? Personally though, I think if they did do one thing right it was the classes. Yeah, Valkyrie is overpowered, I know, and I also played Gunner and Brawler when they were new so I know how those went too. But that's not the end of the world, what matters to me is that they're fun. Numbers can be tweaked any time, just look at how far Gunner has fallen now. No class will be on top forever.
