High lvl character gone?

I'm a returning player and I would like to ask you smething. I already sent a ticket but maybe other players had the same issue and have any idea what to do.
The thing is, I haven't played for a few months (stopped someday in spring). When leaving the game, I had a high lvl character, Castanic archer with 60ish lvl. There was also a low lvl character but I didn't really pay much attention to it therefore it has lvl 20ish.
I logged in yesterday with a desire to play with my archer but it's gone! There is only the low lvl character, and what's more, the game asked me to change the name of this character.
What happened? I even tried to create a new character and name it like my archer to see whether it is available but it's not... Is it possible that due to the long period of being offline my character was deleted and the name thrown into the name pool?
