no thanks, I'm out...
Now more seriously: one of the many reasons I still like this game, is exactly because, it strays from the typical western culture so much. I mean we don't have a shortage of games from the west, granted we don't have a shortage of games from the east either but no please, do NOT turn TERA into yet another oh-so-edgy thing. Cuteness being a factor in TERA is a big reason why I started it and sticked to it (well, my name says it all).
Would TERA be made by a western developer, Elins wouldn't see the light of the day. Heck we can say that BHS made Castanics FOR the western audience (Actually, this has been said already on the deal about how Elins saved TERA from shutting down), and look at what the majority of them are... No thanks for that too, and even here, on west, Elins became more popular. Even on the old 1 year infographic they were more popular on West than Castanic Females. Castanic as a race only beat Elin because they combined both males and females at once, and Castanic males were among the most popular males as well.
This makes me a tad skeptical about TERA having a better fate if it was from ground up western. What I still have to agree is that we do need some extra stuff to do, unlike what others say that it diverts from the core content, I think that the strategy to just force people into said core content (dungeons being main force) ain't working. If people don't wanna do that over and over, why force it? Just let them have more options.
no wait, i've never felt like that. 'cause i'm not an overgrown pissing manbaby.
Cryptic Studios (NW designer) is based in California, but is owned and part of Perfect World Entertainment out of China.

Agree we need more things to do in game, maybe if they add materials to craft armors or upgrade gear in some yellow quest around the open world or ways to craft consumables, pets and mounts via tera open world, like thet did on lisland of dawn, more people would be happy to enjoy tera world, right now is 80% of populations lives camping in the island of dawn, rest in velika and Hightwatch. Other places die.
That is something I've been thinking about a lot, reviving the concept and reason of exploring. We got a quite vast and heavily connected map, just rotting there. Huge beautiful scenarios, epic imposing ones, places that make you feel at ease or feel good, places that make you wanna trash everything up, places that make you hope your survival... And it's all just there rotting. I really agree (think I've also proposed something along these lines on some other thread) that we need stuff to do on the open world.
Island of Dawn is something I have very sad feels about because of how they did it. They ruined the entire map for the BAMs and such. I frankly would have loved if it was just the same map but with the BAMs there. Still, gotta give it credit that they made it into something new and useful (that is, also after making it useless...)
They need to appeal to all players. One day Game devs will learn (some have), that they need to loose the old Dev/GM attitudes of forcing people to do certain things and alienating others. Tera could be much more popular than it is with just a few changes that would make casuals, PVE, PVP, and hardcore all relatively happy. There are a very limited amount of people that want to play Elins, or female characters.
That being said... I really, really hope that all the people pushing so hard for removing gender-lock will make male brawlers a big success. That will be the true test here, and will no doubt inform future decisions. They'll care about the metrics a lot more than any amount of forum threads.
i have both male and female characters in tera i play as. when i play as a male character, i don't think of myself as being a boy. im just curious to know how many of the people that complain the most about genderlocked classes, watch anime, or have their favorite anime girl figurine sitting on their desk or on their wallpaper?
How many years passed? Did you think tera reached to point it deserve?
This is not about race-lock, yes i know.
but i think everyone must consider, before you say a player "bye felicia"
Would you continue to play anyway if you stayed alone in this game?
I mean even 1 player is important
I think first you need to think what determines the future of a game?
Race-lock is not important for a game feature or game future, of course i know but this is not mean i will accept this
thanks for the great comment, i think, i m agree with you but also i cant accept and i cant play female brawler or others (i tried but sorry)

Lol poor island of dawn xd but true is the most ugly place in all the game. Second is velika looks like a prison.
The Elin has it's place and is very valuable to the game. Personally they do not appeal to me, but I do understand and respect that they appeal to others. That is kind of the point though. The game can appeal to many more with just a few changes, instead of forcing a path.
Offering the male Brawler now, does not offer a good test of popularity. Many who made and female, leveled to 65 and geared up, are not going to make a new male. They may have made a male though if offered originally, for example. Offering a free gender change potion for 30 days would be interesting, just to see how many change!
Don't take me too badly, I just had to mock a bit the entitlement tone on your comment. I know it sucks to have race locks, but well... That's a financial decision.
The fact is: TERA has always had male characters, heck the Popri are male only and so is Baraka (in total, you get more male options than Female ones), yet... The graphics show otherwise that you guys saying "there's only a handful that want to play Elin".
The race locks are sure bad. Heck I SAID SO! But it's nowhere near THE reason why it's not on a good shape, it's just one of the many that sum up. You could say that the controller's changes from choice between character direction and camera direction are not important, but then again, that's the reason I left this game in a hiatus for quite long, not the race locks. And then those two sum up. It's not just one reason for many people to come and leave or play on-off style, it's a big sum of reasons for low retention. And making all classes for all races, is too costly of a move to try to bring players or make them stay. It's a gamble that if history has shown, won't pay off.
I get it that you don't want to play female characters, and no you don't need to just accept it, I totally get it as I'm the inverse and if I had no option other than play males, I would just not do so. But well, that's where it all boils down to: if I was in your shoes, I would just play the vanilla classes (or when Male Brawler comes) until I got fed up and then just... well... not care about it. It's not like they should do the game for me. I ain't complaining about no Elin Brawler too. If I was not happy with the product... I don't buy it.
Kinda like I could complain all day about iPhones being expensive. They would just look at my face and say "stop being poor". My only options are either sucking it up and paying for one, or not doing so and showing the finger. I chose the later.
Maybe you can have fun with Male Brawler when it comes, hope you do. But then again as I said, if you don't and just want over and over that Reaper, Gunner and Ninja come to males... It just won't if it's not profitable.
interesting to be put this way
like when they offered the elin gunner
Many who made , leveled to 65 and geared up, are not going to make a new gunner and want race change offered (and most were prepared to pay for the changer)
oh wait we didn't end up down that road and yet heaps of elin gunners were made and even by people that already had lvl65 geared up gunners
so if the brawler has interest I feel that people will make it with out the need of "you need to give me free so I can change as ive already made and I want this but I shouldn't need to make another"
