[PC] Tutorial Disconnection

edited June 2018 in TERA PC - Bug Report
TL;DR Screen freezes. Game crashes to desktop with no error messages. ONLY HAPPENS in the same exact spot for the tutorial ( the entrance of the cave you follow her into ).

I recently got a new laptop and installed TERA after a few buddies started playing again, luckily I found my old account as well. Eventually, I wanted to make a new character and sought out the character selection screen.

But that's why I'm here now.

The game works perfectly fine in every location. There's no random disconnections or FPS spike, an occasional MS spike from time-to-time but I assume that's my faulty internet. It's ONLY the tutorial that gives me an issue. After you talk to Anya to follow her into the cave, my screen freezes just as I go through the arch, only to disconnect to the desktop.

No error message.

No internet disconnection message.

Just closes the game... I've tried googling for people with similar issues but have only found situations focused around internet issues, error messages that appear, and other parts of the map. Most of them turned out to be older issues, from years back, and most of them replied they had it fixed.

Before it's mentioned; I've reinstalled the game a total of three times after these issues started. I even repaired the game about four times. I've reset my laptop, I've closed every background client I run ( Spotify, Discord, ETC. ) and I've checked my firewall. I'm completely unsure of what to do.

Does anyone else deal with this? Anyone know a fix? Something? I just wanted to make a lancer, man.

  • Given all the things you've tried, I'm not really sure what might work. I might try things like updating your drivers and running your Windows updates, etc., but you may have already tried that too. My guess would have been a corrupt map file, but given that you tried reinstalling and repairing already, it seems unlikely.

If you remain stuck, I recommend sending in a ticket and asking the Support Staff if they can advance your character's quest until after the cave. But my only concern about that is that maybe you'll just end up running into some other cave or something that gives you the same error a little bit later. Still though it's worth a try.

I hope XIGNCODE isn't causing this game shut downs? I would set your DNS inputs on your router and Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections adapter on both IPv4 and IPv6 (if you have IPv6) provided from your internet provider. Doing so will fix DNS Probe Finished No Internet’ Error. Even though you get no disconnect message, perhaps your cable-modem needs to be reset; it will cause freeze ups.

NEVER RESET ROUTER-DON'T PUSH THAT BUTTON! IT WILL RESET BACK TO FACTORY!

Tried this last night and it didn't seem to work either..

Yeah... I've tried checking my Windows updates and drivers as well, but everything is up to date.

I had a Priest that was freshly out of the tutorial ( right as you get to Velika ) and have been playing it. Absolutely no issues in any location, dungeon, or battleground.. Which completely baffles me that I have issues in only ONE area.

I've got a support ticket in and I can only hope ♥
