Sorc revamp concerns

As we all know by now, BHS is planning on changing sorc's BoC to make us less useless when it's on cooldown, and also make sorc #1 dps. However, depending on the how BoC is changed, they could kill the class by removing its identity. A sorc is focused completely around this one skill, and it is this skill that defines the class and the player. That is the reason I am a sorc main instead of a ninja or gunner. What I am concerned about is BoC being removed as a skill and is either turned into a passive, a stance like ninja focus, or other skill get faster cast times. I am looking forward to being top tier dps, but I want sorc to maintain the playstyle that I love. If BoC is changed too dramatically, sorc may not be the high skill floor/ceiling class it is now, and instead another ninja or gunner, where anyone can do decent dps within a week of playing. Basically, my main concern is that sorc loses its playstyle, becoming a boring smash-face-into-keyboard class.

    It's not just happening to Sorc, it's all of the old classes. BHS is probably going to easy mode all of the classes to 4-5 skills in PvE and hand out iframes and autismoframes like no tomorrow with the "revivals". It's pretty inevitable at this point and skill will become largely irrelevant in the future it seems.

    I'm equally as scared with you. Calling it now, but TERA will abandon the few traits of a skill based game that it has left and turn into another farmville macro mmo.

    There's good and bad to this. The good, if BHS can capitalize on it, is that by making easy classes, they can make the game itself much more difficult, since players will have no "difficult class" excuse. It's tricky to do, but many games out there have found success with the easy to play hard to master formula. Let's see how things go on, and if they would apply any of this.

    I doubt they will remove half of their skills to make it easier to play. BHS is working with a bunch of players out of the community, so i doubt they approve it unless they think it is actually better. Also, the changes arent even made/released yet, so worrying ahead of the changes seems pointless to me. for all we know, they are making the skill beter without actually removing it or changing how it is used in a rotation atm. Just wait until you have more info first

    Reminds me of a skill that elementalists in C9 had, and it was a-freaking-mazing looking, so, yes please!

    - It's going to be buff for PVE sorc.
    - It's not even in Ktera yet. It will be here in about 6 month later.

    - Sorc may will get revamps
    1. Deleting Boc and OverChannel.
    2. Reducing some Skill MP problem
    3. Faster skill casting time and New/ Better skill effect.
    4. Nerf in PVP - Can't cast another skill until warp effect disappears.

    Ktera people are concern about
    1. Sorc becomes OP in pve and then, BHS will nerf Sorc in pvp
    2. Need to change gear options. - ++++ attack speed.

    My personal wish is
    1. Reduce MP
    2. Delete animation lock at the end of skill. (Sorc still can't iframe during fireblast skill. Sorc must need to use moving cancel. Some of skill animation lock is still bad for some boss)
    3. Crit hit rate is unstable. Sometimes it's really bad. I see only white damages with 270~280 crit rate.

    I'm looking forward to (and hoping for) mobility improvements for archer and sorc. We need to be able to cast and shoot on the fly. I don't think skills will be changed too much, but if they end up that way, i would say it'll probably be an even trade off and try to stay positive.

    I share your concern. I'd like to se the class polished and less clunky, but a complete rework like this worry me. Still we cannot say much untill we see the new sorc in action.

    PS: I hope that meteor is not the new fb :/

  • Dont get the need to dumb down classes. Removing burst of celerity = never touching my sorc again, and probably my account since idk what they will do to the other classes i like

    I don't want the classes dumbed down or made more flashy. I just want the damage gap between the old classes and the new ones shrunk down... And maybe E-Smash and E-Roll to no longer share a CD, and maybe a better CD on E-Roll.

    I mean the new classes have unpunishable iframes so the class revamps are probably going to mess up the mechanics of PvP and turn this game into a skill spam maplestory fest tbh
  • Yes i also agree with you guys. Instead of revamping the old classes why not just increase the diffiuclty of newer clssses such as reaper, who's staggers with can lock u down with no effort. Instead of doing that turn their long range staggers into a skill tht hits for a single amount of dmg and slightly nerf the dmg on it. Make it so that its 1 quick staggering move tht makes it so that if next stagger is apllied to fast it wont effect unless its correctly timed one after the other. This makes it so yea the pve nerf isnt bad u can still button smash... but if u want to master pvp u have to gain at least some type of skill. Same for gunner it has way to many self peel mechanics... put a cool down on its bot once self destructed. It is nearly impossible for a zerk to punish even a mid skilled gunner. The skill that is a gaint nuke capable of 1 shot needs a much bigger punish, make it so that if its casted a gunner cannot cast any dps skills for the next 5 secs and remove the iframe on the landing. That skill is like goku having a iframe spirit bomb, that remains until he catches his breath and lands for more action. Bhs needs to find ways to do stuff like this for these newer classes. How many openings does a ninja have that an average melee class tera player can take advantage of... but if you add some type of stagger timing or something where as if the ninja messes up hes open for attack would be more fair. I would rather be a ninja can do op damange but cannot truly capitalize on it until he learns his class and skills an true rotations. Im just saying a revamp is scary it can go either way. I dont want tera to become a smash an win game, up the diffiuclty factor a bit for others brawler, ninjas, reapers, gunners. Forget about damage and crap for a second, its also the insainely easy execution of combos and heavy damage skills from these newer classes that is also adding to their op factor. I know of archers such as xillian who can maybe take 70% of ur hp in 1 rotation. Notice no one is complaining, mainly cause of the skill cap it requires to be as viable an archer as him. From what i gather instead of going the route of revamping tera which may go bad, look into upping the difficulty factor of newer classes.
