All the previous cases (including console) they gave them to everyone who logged in the week before, so I expect that to be the case here too. At least that part I'm not worried about, though the amount is a big question.

FREE character slots are useless for those who have already maxed them and in use.

    :(

This is true. In your case, as I said, I would definitely try to contact support and hope you can work something out to save any bound items on the characters you'll have to delete. At least it's worth a try... :/

It doesnt hurt me too much now and I was expecting this after the previous merge. So from these last 2 years I have only bought cosmetics for only one character while bofere that I was buying for every single character I had.

Now I only focus in 8 diferent characters and every other character can be replaced if needed, its quite sad to look at many alts with Fashion Coupons outfits but this is what EME wants, I think.

In general, the whole game has gotten a lot less friendly for people with alts in the last year, which confuses me a bit since I thought encouraging people to make lots of alts (and bind character items to them) was the whole cash shop strategy. But hey, what do I know...
  • Didn’t EmE state they will be handing out free slots a week before the merge?
  • I have 20 characters on TR only none on the merging sever, so I shouldn’t lose anything at all right?

free slots don't mean anything when you're over 20 characters
  • I have 20 characters on TR only none on the merging sever, so I shouldn’t lose anything at all right?

Yes, in your case you'll retain 20 slots on the new server and be fine. It's the people who have characters on both merging servers, and particularly people whose total characters exceed the 20 maximum, that have trouble.

With the AV and TR merge I am going to have 26 characters, some even have hello kitty outfits, I really don't want to lose out on them

Delete (or transfer) any characters you don’t need. Character slots on the new servers will be limited to the highest number of slots unlocked on either of the merging servers. For example: If you have a total of 4 character slots on Fey Forest, and 9 on Mount Tyrannas, you will have a total of 9 slots on the new server.
The new servers will have characters slots equal to the highest number of slots on either of the merging servers (MT and FF, AV and TR). Again, players with characters on both merging servers will enter their new server with character slots equal to the highest number of character slots on either of the servers. (Remember: This is based on character slots, not actual characters.)
Example: If you have four character slots on Tempest Reach and two character slots on Ascension Valley, you’ll have four character slots on the new server (not six).
The maximum number of characters slots on any server is now 20, so plan accordingly.

so no change from last merge we had , just loose and rebuild/replace

ah well seem 18 september i can just quit tera, no motivation to delete my characters, was fun, but since my friends left and since stupid decisions from bhs and enmasse not reason to stay, well farewell tera and cute elin :/

and good luck to people who chose to stay you will need a lot

and my prediction is than in 2020 they will merge the remnant servers into one server with same current [filtered]

been thinking about this more since the thread start and as I may be unable to be at the next stream and you need to keep the posted questions short any way ill ask here @seandynamite and CM @KitTeaCup
as posted in the closed thread TERA PC Server Merge FAQ
Q: I play on multiple servers. How many character slots will I have on the new server?

The new servers will have characters slots equal to the highest number of slots on either of the merging servers (MT and FF, AV and TR). Again, players with characters on both merging servers will enter their new server with character slots equal to the highest number of character slots on either of the servers. (Remember: This is based on character slots, not actual characters.)
Example: If you have four character slots on Tempest Reach and two character slots on Ascension Valley, you’ll have four character slots on the new server (not six). If you have six characters for those four slots after the merge, you will need to remove two of them before you can start playing.
The week before the server merge, En Masse Entertainment will send every account additional character slots (amount TBD), as individual items in Item Claim. To maximize the number of available slots after the merge, use them on the server where you currently have the most characters. The maximum number of characters slots on any server is now 20, so plan accordingly.
    and
Q: How can I contact Customer Support to get a refund on recently bought character slots?

Contact our Customer Support Team at: https://support.enmasse.com/tera and select the “2018 Server Merge” category.
The Support Ticket must contain the following information:
    · Character name and server where you applied the character slot.
    · The number of character slots you applied.
    · An approximate date of purchase and when you applied the character slots.
as im kind of lucky at the moment
on the two server that to me will be deleted as they are the two I have the least characters on I have around 18 activated character slots , of which 8 have characters , now as standard you get 2 per server free so that's 4 put of the 18 leaving 14 acquired after , and none are recent and I cant use them to transfer my characters to the servers I have more even tho ill still be under my limit total
    1. why do they have to be recent to be refunded as I would rather reuse the ones I have to save the characters I have there
    2. and of all the cash shop items people are going to loose as some are in a worse position than I am , why only a refund on recently character slots

Seems to me like a cash grab to sell more slots. There is no reason they couldn't have just merged characters on both servers together if you had less than the limit. Sure they are going to give away free slots, but they are waiting until last week, and the only reason to do that would be in hopes of selling slots along the way.

Oh yeah, this was done to save the game. LOL There were loads of other solutions they could have implemented to save the game, so don't kid yourselves into thinking this was done for anyone's benefit other than the dungeon grinders that whined and cried for a merge. You got what you wanted, so if after the merge you end up whining and crying over lag or whatever, save it.

Yeah, they should have just bit the bullet and merged all of the servers together. Not like anyone is even doing PVP. No doubt that the ones that demanded the merge will still be crying that they still can't pop dungeons fast enough. I am just sad that I won't be able to witness the clash of hotshots on each server. I bet that will be fun to watch on global.
  • this merge won't really change anything anyway, av+tr still has less players than TR had when people started calling for a merge. same with ff+mt, i dunno what eme thinks they're doing.

I don't think this merge was done for the benefit of the game at all (nor do I believe it will actually help anything). I'd bet they finally decided to merge servers to cut cost. I imagine someone realized they couldn't justify the cost of maintaining 5 servers with the way they're hemorrhaging players so they're cutting it down to 3.

In the grand scheme of things, the actual hosting cost is very minor, but the cost to actually do the merger (and deal with all the support issues and other consequences) is very high. So I really don't think it's cost savings.
