Tensus +12 Hitting Harder Than Conflate +12
Hello PvP Community.
I finished my conflate set today for my slayer and I've noticed something very strange. The gloves were the last piece of conflate I needed to complete the set and while I was farming mats for them I was using my old Tensus +12 gloves. Everything about my gear was perfectly rolled, especially the damage lines. Then I crafter my conflate, finished them up, rolled perfectly and tested them out. I found out that my Conflate gloves deal less damage than my Tensus gloves which was frustrating to see to say the least. I decided to do a bit of testing. Nothing much but I think it was pretty fair.
Test number one:
Gear: Everything Conflate except Tensus gloves, all +12, (no need to list the jewelry and the other stuff since I don't change it between tests) tensus has energetic II on it which shouldn't affect dmg in any way; and I had Griefing Zyrks on.
Damage from the front - Tensus Gloves
Auto Attack --> 2277 (white) 2773 (crit)
Eviscerate --> 17738 (white) 21605 (crit)
Now the SAME gear but instead of tensus gloves, conflate
Damage from the front - Conflate Gloves
Auto Attack --> 2219 (white) 2703 (crit)
Eviscerate --> 17287 (white) 21056 (crit)
As you can see tensus beats the conflate gloves not my much, but it's till better.
Test number two:
Gear: to eliminate Griefing zyrks affecting any sort of damage fluctuation, I did this test with only 3 pieces of gear. Conflate Wep and belt with the gloves. This way I get the power bonus for both tensus and conf gloves. EVERYTHING else was unequipped.
Damage from front - Conflate Gloves
Auto Attack --> 1375 (white) 1637 (crit)
Eviscerate --> 10716 (white) 12752 (crit)
Same thing
Damage from front - Tensus Gloves
Auto Attack --> 1428 (white) 1699 (crit)
Eviscerate --> 11126 (white) 13241 (crit)
Do you guys have any idea of what's going on here?

The little bit of +PvP attack tensus gives, has less diminishing returns. But if you had more PvP attack, then conflate would do more damage.
Thus, testing with griefing zyrks would be prudent, if you normally use them, since this would impact the diminishing returns in favor of Conflate. And did you test on someone in PvP gear?
You also have to factor in the extra defense, crit, and endurance that you get from Conflate gloves.
That's why I tried it with Griefings from the start, since they're my main choice of jewel crystals. I've been following the gear discussion post and I understand that pvp damage doesn't have diminishing returns and that pvp attack does but conflate even with all 4 griefings is outplayed by tensus gloves. Which are +12!!!!!!! How does that not bother other people? Ofc I do understand that not everything is in the damage and that I get substantially better defense with conflate, but it still sort of bothers me that +12 gloves from 2 patches ago beat the current pvp gear. huh.
Anyways, thanks for the respone!
But honestly, the damage boost isn't everything, like I said. You lower 3 other stats for 2.5% more damage.
But really, I think it's kinda nice that the old armor still has perks.
It also leaves room for min/maxing, which is cool. For example, say you had Starfall or Imperator weapon - then conflate gloves would probably add more damage (because of the extra PvP attack.).
But you also lose the +6 endurance from set bonus!
It's crazy, but no single set of gear is BiS in PvP, especially next patch. A mix match is actually best! (Unless you are a lancer, in which case full Starfall may be best.)
Admittedly, though, it does seem like something isn't quit right, though. Tensus gets +7 PvP attack and 6 power. Conflate gets +6% PvP damage and 7 power. So it's 1 PvP attack vs. 1 power. You'd think that would be less than 2.5% difference. What are the rolls on each one, exactly?
They're both rolled the best they can - Crit fator 9, Power 5 and atk speed 2,25
I get what you're saying, I loooved my tensus the first time I got it, nice to see it still has some life left in him hehe. In veritas res my friend, you thought exactly what I thought, the math sort of doesn't add up.
Oh well, all's well that ends well I suppose
Use slaughter lance / belt + conflate, I do 25k white and 50k crit with wallop in FWC to cloth class. (The flat is pretty high on slaughter so don't diss)
Having said that as navjack pointed out I am also full power, pretty heretical build for a lancer but I like it more since it negates crit resist factor via constant higher damage, and any crit is just icing on the cake, not to mention the icing is quite brutal. So I think the result here is go flat if you are crit build and %pvp attack if you are power build. At the moment I am edging around 150k attack.
Was a big fan of crit until I saw someone using a full power gunner and critted 110k on a person, it was quite entertaining to watch.
PVP damage seems to be some kind of flat penetration damage while % is really, the % bonus topped on your attack.
