Combat UI Questions
I'm totally new to TERA and could use some help. Can someone please explain what the various colors of the boss healthbar mean during combat? Red, purple, green -- what does it all mean?? Surprisingly, I cannot find any information on this at all. My healthbar turns purple sometimes too, and I don't know what that means. It would be very nice to understand it all better.
I've also noticed symbols over monsters that I don't completely understand. For instance, "!" symbol appear when a mob notices you -- I worked that one out by myself, thank you very much. But there are also red and yellow flags with "v" symbols or eyes that are more mystifying. What do these symbols mean?
Thanks for any help. It seems most guides assume you know all this already, but for someone completely new like myself, it's not obvious. I've very much enjoyed playing, and my strategy so far has just been "hit things and don't get hit", but at some point I need to understand the combat interface better.

Hey as far as boss bars go, the colors in the "boss gauge" the bar on the top of your screen don't mean too much. Bosses have multiple layers of hp with the colors for distinguishing each layer meant to show progress on killing it rather than having one really slow bar.
For the small bar above a mob's head as well as yours if it's purple, that indicates a negative abnormality (debuff). On the player most of these can be cleansed by a healer/brooch but some can't. If you hover over your buffs/debuffs bar you can see what status effect the abnormality has.
The "mystifying eyes" can actually mean a multitude of things. Sometimes before a mob does a certain attack it's eyes will flash as a tell for that attack. If the boss/monster bar is flashing red that means that it's enraged. Enraged mobs attack faster, and can deal more damage unless you have rolls on your gear to counter "damage from enraged mobs". Also some bosses have entirely separate enrage specific mechanics, but that's generally for later game content.
One last thing with combat mechanics in TERA you might not know. There are two types of aggro, primary and secondary. Players with primary aggro will have an orange circle below them and will receive the majority of a monster's attacks. Secondary aggro is indicated by a purple circle. Players with a purple circle are usually targeted with a "one-time" attack from the monster. For bosses there are usually only a few of these but some of them can be proced by things like casting a resurrection; In guides they might call this "res aggro".
Hope that helped explain some things
Yes, that is very helpful. I've noticed that the last color of the boss gauge is usually red. Does this red phase correspond to the enraged phase or is that something different?
Thanks very much for your help. It's nice when the world makes more sense.
Haha no problem.
And the red at the end doesn't mean anything just that it's the last bar.
If the boss is enraged it will be flashing. Also there's text on there now that tells you when the next enrage will be. Generally enrage happens every 10% of the bosses health unenraged making them enraged for 36 seconds.
I'll have to look for that. I'm not sure I've paid attention to whether it's flashing or not.
Thanks again for your help!
