Returning EU player to TERA, some serious questions :)

Hello folks,

I played TERA on EU server when it was p2p, then returned when the f2p launch for some months and then left because I felt the game became very easy compared to when it was not f2p (i remember BAMs where so difficult to solo and after f2p I could solo them easily, dungeons while levelling where also very easy after f2p while before it took challenge in a party). I decided to return to TERA as I have tried every single other mmo out there (even tried to start WoW lol) and now I know there is no other game like TERA in terms of combat system plus dungeons plus PvP, so even though I still think the challenge in PvE is way easier than before f2p I think I will assume it and just play. But I have some questions as a returning player and being from Europe, I hope someone nicen can answer and help me (sorry for the lenght :) ):

1) I have read a lot of post about EU players asking about how their ping could affect them here in NA TERA, and I always read mixed opinions. My ping is 110-120ms to NA, and I don't feel any difference to EU while doing PvE. Do you think I can be competitive enough in PvP with 110-120 ping? By competitive I don't mean to be the best of the elite, just competitive to enjoy pvp and feel I can win battles with my skill in general.

2) Regarding the easier challenge of TERA now compared to before they went F2P, is high level content challenge and it is just that levelling 1-60 content is the one made super easy so that people catch up easier? If it is that way, it could be fine as levelling will take X time and then I will reach challenge content, but I hate when even at high level dungeons and quests mobs are no challenge at all and you won't die almost never. I loved when we wiped as a party in a dungeon while levelling in TERA when it launched, it really took skill, also with BAMs. Are dungeons and BAMs at 60-65 and endgame difficult and take challenge to complete them?

3) Once I reach max level, how much time playing 3-4 hours daily during the week and more on weekends,OBJECTIVELY, will it take for me to reach a competitive Pve and PvP level? I mean, have good enough gear and enough enchantment level (+15?+20?) to be competitive in open world pvp and not equalized PvP. I want to support the game, I hate the f2p I want all free mentality, so to this answer add the fact that it is ok for me to spend 20-30$ a month in the game (I don't know if spend it on subscription would be better or just buy cash shop coins and buy things to speed my gearing?)

4) I loved my Poporion mage when I played, I like DPS classes but I also like Tanks as I like to be necesary in parties and have short LFG queues time. How are Mages nowadays in TERA as a class and do they take high queue times to get parties? How about lancers?

5) I checked NA store and prices yesterday, and I don't really get why people consider EU server store so much worst than NA, anyone could elaborate?

6)Anything relevant I should know in your opinion as a returning player to NA server?

thanks a lot and I know I asked a lot, hope it is ok and someone has the time. thanks in advance

As a former EU Tera player I will answer this.

    1) We know that the EU servers in Frankfurt (DE) provide only 120ms, caused by the carrier. Only if you live in germany, you will have a better ping. As a casual PVP player (e.g. Kumaslyum, CS) I can say that constant 120 ms to NA for me is viable in PvP.

    2) Difficulty. Tera still is directed at casual gamers. However, with the hard mode you now have something not every casual can hop in or be carried through. We also have gear limitations that unlocks for approbiate gear only.

    3) You can try to buy yourself in but it would cost much more than $30 a month. Upon hitting lvl6, you are given free Dreadnaught gear (T8) which covers a good range for starting dungeons. This means, Tera offers a chained gear progression in which you climb up step by step. Can't estime time as I'm a casual myself and quite content with Dreadnaught on several characters (I'm not focusing one character).

    4) With the new tank class Brawler, we surprisingly dont have a tank problem as in other MMOs. The Lancer does way less damage than a Brawler, but good tanks are welcomed everywhere. Especially as a Lancer is a full support tank (enemy debuff, team buff, etc.). Mages will get a revamp and will be the glass cannons again (highest DPS output, most squishy class). Even now, a mage can drive very high damage output if in the hands of an experienced player who knows the handling of this situational rotation class.

    5) EU store is bundled. EU store is directed at big whales. EU store relies on TT (our EMP equivalent) discounts. Everything goes into the EU store and is being sold.
NA store has a cheap color-fixed version and the expensive dyeable RNG version (whereever possible). NA store sells everything "what you buy is what you want", no bundles. NA store has not everything as a lot of cosmetics are given away for free in events. NA store brings in seasonal discounts. And the most important: NA store gets almost everything the Koreans get as EME is a branch (or what is it called?) of BHS. The only thing we dont get is exclusively licensed stuff like the japanese dance.

    6) check the "which server should I choose guide" from Kamizuma, get a BuddyUp code before you start to level. You might even put down your server and with luck, you find some nice people to be mentor, drop some starting gold, crystals, etc.

    2) So at high level, is there challenging dungeons? I mean, difficult that parties can wipe if they don't do well, etc

    3) I was not asking if I can buy stuff in the shop, I want (and need it to enjoy the game) to play the game and earn my gear, but I also want to do it if there is the real possibility to get to a competitive level in a reasonable time. By reasonable time I mean by playing 3-4 hours a day, to get to competitive level in 2-3 months. And I asked about spending 30$ because I want to support the game so, how will spending that money help me in the gear progression and what is better to spend it in subscription and cash shop or only in cash shop?

    5) I saw NA cash shop got lockboxes in the store. Are they needed to progress? What are they used for? Also, I saw you can buy keys from the shop that open lockboxes found inside the game, what do you get from them if you open? So basically, is gearing at high level totally dependant on spending 300$ a month in the store or just buy playing or spending 30$ or subscription token enough?

If they don't do well, they can wipe at even midtier dungeons. But honestly even mid-tier is not that hard.

Subscription for Elite is the best investment in Tera, getting double runs and free items daily, as well as free broker tax is generous. If you want to spend only 3 hours++ for 3 months getting Elite will help you a ton.

Lootboxes are not needed in this game, and aside from trying to yolo for innerwear you shouldn't really spend the money. If you really put effort in the game you don't even need elite but elite will push things way faster. The only things you would buy from the store is probably character expansions for alts because if you are efficient enough you probably would have more alts to speed up the process even further.

EDIT: Lootboxes are mostly for cosmetics. It is entirely optional.

Thanks for answering. Could you elaborate on my 3) question please? Very important for me, thanks in advance
