I agree, Broker always is more expensive but I see many ppl complain in global chats and towns chats that they bought many but wasn't so happy about the success rate. It would be good to know and recently we are not seeing good things, so negativity effected community also.
1)- Skins are awful and poorly designed (with two or three exceptions)
2)- Skins are expensive; and I mean EXPENSIVE. (I play CS:GO and even there skins are cheaper)
3)- Skins are paylocked (not a news in Tera)
4)- This is another cash grab, should be condemned in the game, is not doing any good.
12 boxes --> 250 emp each = 3000 emp
Do you realize that you spent 40$ for ONE skin?. I know you have no problem with that, but did you realize?
You're not wrong. If you just look at the objective value and compare it to other more-popular games, it's very expensive, and it makes sense that people will compare apples-to-apples (game X gives me this at Y price, game Y gives me this at Z price). Plus it would be better if, in an ideal world, everything could be earned in game.
But at the same time, not everyone can be Valve (or Blizzard). CS:GO has about 100x the players as TERA does and Valve has Steam to keep them afloat. As a niche game, TERA relies on a much smaller amount of people paying a lot more per-paying-user to keep their companies afloat. And given that's the case, I'd rather they do it on optional cosmetic items like this than things that actually impact gameplay balance. People who don't want it can always just not pay anything and not miss out on anything that actually matters in the gameplay. (Whenever they start crossing into things that aren't purely cosmetic, that's the biggest problem.)
And even with that said... People were paying an awful lot more than that for certain rare skins in CS:GO. It's just done differently there (skins are rare in their controlled distribution not their actual purchase price, which could be zero, and Valve makes a cut off of every sales/trade in addition to selling the lootbox). That approach is a bit more subtle, but it's not much less of a cash grab in the end; it just works because of their scale/reach.
(I'm not trying to say that I particularly like EME's way of selling things (particularly lootboxes with no fail cap and no posted odds), but I do also understand they don't have all the same options that a super-popular game has.)
$40 for 4600 emp was the official cost.
Because of this amazing Tera RNG, I never buy these loot boxes hoping for the "cracker jack" prize, I buy them for the consumables. I sell those also. If I get the prize, all the better. I always expect disappointment, when it doesn't happen, it's been a good night.
