I agree that it only takes people to do pvp but it takes the right kind of people. It takes people willing and wanting to prove themselves against other people. It takes people of a competitive nature that are willing to keep trying (and losing) until the day comes where they're victorious. And you won't see many of those people anymore because of how casual this game has gotten and how the average player expects things handed to them nowadays (and EME/BHS do so). Players today are accustomed to getting what they want with minimal effort so it's no surprise barely anyone is willing to put in the amount of time it takes to get into pvp.
and don't quit after 1 loss :^(
People who play only for fun mainly are those you find in real PvP games like CS:GO and Overwatch. Sure, even Overwatch has rewards, but they don't affect your stats or enable you to win more next time. And that's why people can play just for fun.
Plus, you know, they're actually fun, not 2 FPS mass PvP imbalanced zerg garbage. Skyring is probably the only real pure fun game mode in this game because the engine can handle 6 players with no lag + it's very fluid and not much imbalanced (not solo, cause that's random). Unfortunately Skyring Team is not equalized so yeah, point proven. (EU had it equalized during an event, it was very active, so don't start)
Think: what does GW2 or other games have compared to TERA in arena? Clearly not combat system, since it's way worse. What is its advantage? If you think it has something to do with being fully equalized, then you're right, congrats, you discovered America.
@kamizuma: Go PvP with the broker cause you obviously have no idea how most PvP players think (in all of online community, not TERA, TERA is minuscule). idk why you try so hard to speak for others who play the game way differently than you do.
People LOVE mass Pvp otherwise you wouldn't see the same 5-10 people spamming all day long looking to get a pop in 3s because of the [filtered] EQ gear.
You my friend are one of the people who do not care about the PvP scene and are just trying ways to keep the game at the state it is because you know that if PvP comes back like it was before, your attitude would not survive. This is also why you will never truly grasp the concept of PvP and improve as a player and thus will be stuck in a state of never-ending garbage. So have fun swimming in your cesspool of negative non-relevance.
While I admire the fact that you do solo q 3's at least, the fact that you're still including gear as a reason why team 3's is imbalanced is actually idiotic, from someone who has been doing team 3's since day one and pretty much plays the game exclusively for them. I have queue'd in gear way below the standards of "best gear' and still competed at a high level. There's a few other main reasons people won't queue team 3's. 1) they're scared of the experienced players and getting destroyed by them. 2) their pride won't allow them to queue for it because they think it will make them look bad. 3) pure laziness. People would rather just spam 30 man raid or the new HM's until their face turns blue and get max gear to sit around and do nothing with it.
Edit: One more thing, I'm not saying team 3's are the perfect display of balance, that doesn't exist in online video games. But in my opinion, it does demonstrate an actual test of skill in TERA.
Of course those can go and grind for [filtered] gear then come back, but most competitive people won't get past this stage. Some turn full PvE/farm mode (aka never "come back" after getting their gear), and others outright quit the game. Waste of their time. So you don't see them queuing.
Most people who are decked in BiS every patch instantly (i.e hoarders / farmers / credit card warriors) don't queue because they're not competitive. It's the wrong target audience.
@VelvetCake: How many pro esport leagues have you been in mate? I ask because I need your autograph you're super relevant playing a dead game with 2 FPS and thinking you know it all why nobody cares (thus the thread), so I need to know how important that autograph is to brag to my casual pleb friends.
2) People don't PvP competitively because there is no incentive. CU was exploitable and Alliance was a joke. GvGs died off because of too many guilds, not enough people banding together to have some seriously destructive battles. Let's not even talk about guilds that suck off the number 1 guilds.
The guys at the top are only up there because nobody has bothered to truly challenge them and put them against the ropes. Like I said previously. Too many guilds with people thinking they're the best tool in the shed.
3) BiS gear is now optional. You can still do well in CF +12 with correct rolls / etchings / skill.
Overall 3's solo was a good test of skill. But even so I learned the bulk of my PvP skills by duelling and partaking in Fraywind.
Why do people not PvP anymore? Most of them simply hate to lose because they're sore losers and think everybody will laugh at them. Grow a thicker skin PvP will never be a care bear society. Ever. But if you're willing to learn and overcome the hard times you will eventually make it to the top end.
