why no real game updates ?
am i the only one that has the filing that the game is not updated. I know that we get new dungeons every 6 mounts or so but that doesn't feel like real update. We just change the old dungeons for new once and run that over and over until the next two come up. The open world has been rendered useless. There hasn't been any new places added in so long. When the game was first released new arias wore added more often and there was purpose for the open world. Right now to me the game feels more like instance based game then open world one.The story quest hasn't moved at all, no new side quest either.to me It feels like the game hasn't progressed at all in the last 4 years.yes we got the new continent but that two was long ago ant it isn't used either once u get to 65 it just sits there like the rest of the map.

You picked a theme park MMO. A lot of content will be instanced.
Though I agree that the open world should be used more. I just don't know how. You didn't suggest anything either.
Playing a MMO is like doing your laundry, constant rinse and repeat. (Gear grinds, dungeons.)
Then, what's the secret of WoW?
I think is lore and not gameplay, aplealing to the masses and not only one region.
Are you serious compare blizzard and bhs ...
Seriously, if BHS ever tries to pull that argument, that they just can't come up with content quick enough to make people satisfied, while simultaneously deleting more dungeons than they add in each patch, then... I don't know. I'll be pretty amused.
There is no secret to its success really. For one, people will think is because is published by one of the leading Game Developers in the world: Blizzard Entertainment, which is without a doubt, far more competitive and larger than Bluehole Studios. But theres also the fact that WoW have a long term relationship with many players, one could say, a little bit of history in each of us. It is that tiny bit of history, that we sometimes feel nostalgia, and whenever there is a new update, we are excited to check it out, which is why their numbers grow with each new update release.
Also, WoW remains pretty much the same, after 11 years, it still feels like the vanilla WoW, unlike other games that go through an extensive rework of the original version, stray from what caught players attention. WoW has remained pretty much true to its vanilla version, without adding too much stuff that may make players feel the game different, and also adding enough stuff to keep players coming for more. You need an Example? We will use TERA for this. The True Action Combat thing remains the same after 4 years, but the thing that changed and ultimately led to players wanting a vanilla server (at least here in NA) was the nerfing of the AI of the BAMS to make them soloable, when originally this monsters were not supposed to be soloable, but tag along with your friends and take on em, which is what brought players in. The constant addition of new classes that overshadow the original 7 classes is also annoying as [filtered], not to mention that all new additions were female only based on their "feedback".
Lore and storylines are admittedly not easy to make. One false step and you make a very crappy storyline with no real value to it.
However much, I think it is just the game industry not knowing how to entertain players anymore. In this case we are talking about Nexon.
I will start with one of the older MMOs that are still around, Maple Story. And I will be honest even that game is starting to die off, cuz #nexonworstcompany.
That game was at least 80% focused in working together in the open world back then (probably 10 years ago when I tried it). Players work together many ways outside of the usual "Party Quests" to grind EXP and level. There was not much chase in terms of gear because to the large majority, you don't have to. Any a how, the company earned quite a large bit even it is early days due to the gacha system (which you don't have to go for to win) as well as comestics. I wasn't here in the early days of TERA but from what I see from the original comments when it started, there was an inclination for that.
For Maplestory, powercreep began to soar. It is also a bad time because computers are becoming fast enough for some botters to farm gold at insane amounts, inflating the economy. This occured across all servers more notably after the Big Bang update. There are classes that are obviously more op than the original (the first few heroes had easy access to AoE damage and ultimates which the older classes don't really have. I would dare say the race to damage cap started from there. You know what is the irony? There was a constant race to VM in Tera in every content update too.
When the Nexon management changed, lots of focus changed. You can tell something happened to the company when in multiple games, content are being removed. For Maple Story, due to how the level system is implemented there is absolutely no reason to completely remove maps unless they are revamping it for a higher level. If EXP gains seem too op on one avenue, they could easily just balance that out by increasing or decreasing the time needed to level (aka XP rate). Instead, they removed lots of things where community interaction is everywhere. Outside of the random "grind-together-with-friends" and "party-quest-spam" parties, there is absolutely no reason to party with anyone. An MMO is boring no matter how much story there is to it, if it is a solo game.I saw that with quite a few of MMOs even outside of my example and Tera, and it is sad to see the trend going downhill.
The only true saving grace for many MMOs is to stop putting the emphasis on the damage race and force everyone into it (just making it easier to gear is not enough), and more emphasis on actually making a variety of content that doesn't feel recycled. It is even better if it promotes party and guild play The reason why people think the MMORPG industry is dying is not because the genre is bad, but rather the fact that these games don't know how to make replayable content fun. I personally don't think genderlock is the reason why Tera is dying, but rather the fact that everything is so sped up there is no reason to play for actual fun anymore.
Tera has so many solutions to this problem. You could make BAMs in IoD 10-20 times as tanky, crank up the rewards and make it doable in a party. You could make random bonus spawns like how Maple Story did theirs (if they copied Vindictus wholesale there is no reason not to copy other Nexon games lol). You could even leave the old dungeons there (amp it up in terms of difficulty) and let it drop gear similar to midtier. BHS already started on revamping classes. PvP balances for both EQ and un-EQ are necessary, there are enough pure PvP players out there to support a whole server back then. This includes properly managing powercreep, which is a huge reason why games feel tiring to play. Or flat out changing the gearing process to something that feels less grindy (without actually reducing the time needed to get the gear) like how they did in other games.
The question is whether BHS actually knows how to work as a company that keeps players coming for more
It is all becuz of Bliizard entertainment and Riot Games and etc dominate all Korean PC game market share in fact. 99% sure.
Most of Korean game company such as BHS, Nexon, NCsoft has stopped developing PC games due to the fact that western game actually dominate Korean PC game market share, with their games such as Overwatch and League of Legends and etc.
So most Korean game company now turned into mobile game devlopers that works for Android and iPhone.
Look at NCSoft, they released new mobile game called "Lineage 2 Revolution" just few days ago.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.netmarble.lineageII&hl=ko
Look at Nexon, thry are working on many mobile games called HIT!, Master of Eternity (MOE) and etc.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nexon.moe&hl=ko
BHS? They released Mobile game called Devilian just few weeks ago, where Tera elin does actually exist.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gamevil.devilian.android.google.global.normal&hl=ko
Here it says publisher is GAMEVIL but It is just publisher for BHS, like EME i guess.
So why there is no more update is due to the fact that All Korean game company basically has lost all their interest on PC, but mobile.
So my expectation is that BHS will work on console game development like PS4 and mobile games for Android and iPhone only, but not PC.
one billion $ budget
Someone should mail BHS the video starting from "if you go about this wrong, your players will get upset with you"
And here's some more
