The devs have also been criticized because they're just recycling game elements, such as boss models and attack patterns, with each new dungeon season there used to be at least a new boss type, KDNM/HM's bosses, for example, were all recycle, while FINM/HM had a brand new final boss -so did SCNM/HM, TSNM/HM and SSNM/HM-, but LKNM/HM RMNM/HM are completely recycled ones, they just reskinned them and slapped a couple of mechanics to the dungeon. That's one problem, if they're really focusing on releasing content in the form of seasonal dungeons, then they'll have to put a little effort to it, the content they're releasing get boring quite fast (it's worse in NA because of the time patches take to land here, perhaps this will change as the gap between releases gets shortened).
The other thing that many have pointed out is that the open world zones are used only to host hunting events, which is nice, but those are something the publishers tweak, the game itself no longer encourages exploration. There is no easy solution to this, I can only think of things I'd like to see implemented, for example, I've been thinking that maybe some of the side quest arounf the world could be converted into VG ones, maybe give you the alternative to kill packs of mobs or gathering on other areas instead of only in Val Oryn. I've also though maybe they could transform all the side quests (or al least most of them) into lvl 65 ones, with the mobs/BAMs stats and rewards adjusted to level cap.
Side quests are meant to be optional, yes, but here they were also designed to be done as you level up, the problem is you can reach level cap in less than a week. I think the devs could make the leveling process a good "tutorial" and an engaging experience for the player, and since Tera is now all about end game, these bits of content could be removed from the leveling process and introduced as OPTIONAL content (caps because whenever someone talks about revamping old quests systems there's always someone who starts crying about "introducing more grind" to the game).
*They should focus more on viable end-game content for NA market, i mean, hard content for like 10 ppl max, not like that crazy 30 man raid.
--Focus on new content for the majority of player base (i.e: Player/Guild housing), not only content that only 1% will ever clear.
--Too much recycled bosses, i'm tired from always killing IOD/old BAMs as 1st/2nd bosses on new dungeons...
--Bring back iframes, too much ping reliant content lately...
*Balance the classes, BHS plz respect players that put a lot of effort on their toons, this "reroll BS" is killing the game!
--Make the gap between dps classes at most like 25%, not the [filtered] 50-100% as now;
--We don't need new broken female locked classes, every new class mess with the game balance pretty bad!
-- Open previous classes to male gender...
*Too much useless gear grinding every 4~6 months.
--From Knockout (Brawler) till Spellbound patch we got 3 new VM sets (Starfall, Imperator, Ambush) on a 10 month time span!
--You guys made a hardcore raid with soulbound VM8.5 loot soon to be replaced by new VM9, are u guys dumb???
--The gap between current and old BIS gear is bigger than ever (10,2% now vs 4,5% on ninja patch), they want us to grind new VM every ~4 months...
--Put some high failure cap (~150 tries) on awakening trash, why lose loyal players cuz of RNG? 100 tries is more than enough for gear that last so little.
--Tone down the RNG, why more rolls on jewelry? Imho harder guaranteed grind>brain dead RNG casino every 3 months, i don't mind to put more effort on gear grind if it's guaranteed stuff that will last a bit more..
--Buff the drop of VM designs.
--Consider a retool sytem plz, or maybe a system with new gear every year and a upgrade in the middle (like VM3.5/VM8.5) is much more reasonable.....-
--Revamp crafting, maybe make alternative BIS as a hard end game goal for crafters, use tera's huge open world for mats resource.
*We need more incentives so new/mid-tier players run end-game content:
--I.e: Put a 50% drop rate buff on end-game dungeon if there's a rookie in the party. Make this "rookie status" account bound so it's harder for ppl to exploit the system with alts.
*Raise the difficulty floor but not the ceiling, put more >OPTIONAL< content for hardcore/try hards.
--Why the huge nerf on SSNM/DFHM? We already got CW/KC as low-tier dungeon, new players should learn how to deal with one shots mechs.
--Leveling on Tera is just a waste of time..
--Why no more crusades/leaderboards??
--Bring back old dungeon on their original pre-nerfed states, put some "challenge" mode with an exclusive costume/title as a reward, make them only acessible with old patch gear so we can avoid power creep, maybe balance them arround new classes.
I.e: Pre nerf SCHM, put a ilvl cap (something till Disco+12), put the mats for the old gear on Tera's open world...
Revamp PVP, it's pretty dead atm...
For EME:
Do you guys really need 5 servers?
For the last few months the game feels dead. Not only are hangout spots like Velika Outskirts, Velika city and Highwatch near to empty (unless during absolute peak times) just watch your friends list and say the game is healthy on any server.
People login and afk or chit chat with their guild. People rarely do anything anymore.
PvP is dead. Battlegrounds only are active during events such as the current one for vm mats and sometimes even then you're looking at min 15 min q times for tank and healing classes.
OwPvP is non existent.
GvG is basically dead. If you declare most will hide (that's been a problem for years)
EME should seriously consider merging into 2 servers. PvP and PvE.
If the game feels dead to someone who's played since CBT how do you think it feels to a new player?
Retaining the current/old playerbase doesn't seem to be a priority, at least make it so for new players.
In short, two things should be changed to make the game a LOT better:
1. As was said above, I don't mind a much longer grind for gear, as long as it's guaranteed. I don't care how many runs of RMHM I need to get a VM weapon, but if there's only one material that five people can roll on with only two entries a day (for elite), and then needing another six different kinds of mats, it's too much. Make the lady handkerchiefs needed go from 20 to 50, I don't care, but I want to be rewarded for beating the dungeon by getting one from the daily, not from RNG.
In addition, awakening enchanting is broken. I don't care if it takes 500 tries total, but it should be guaranteed to be enchanted at some point.
2. Give other things to work towards. Maybe make two or three different sets of VM, but you can obtain them in different ways, and they're all equally powerful. Maybe I don't want to run RMHM every day for the rest of my damn life. Maybe I liked BRNM/HM, and you should bring back other old dungeons with different rewards. New players don't want to get to level 65 and feel stuck doing the same chore over and over. It's fun for a while, but then when a new patch hits and they realize they were grinding for something that's now utterly useless, it's not worth their time playing anymore. I already know some people who just farm for gold, because they'd rather have 2 million gold than have a random piece of gear that loses its value after five months, when it took about as long to get it.
That's all my opinion anyway.
cute elin b00b
i dislike how they remove nice contents, how they add more p2w, +15 is the worst [filtered] from bhs
more cute elin
The issues with the game are obviously optimization, which ruins visuals and the combat. Game also lacks much to do outside of instances, whether you pvp or pve. A lot of games now a days have addition things like housing, collecting stuff, and actual crafting/gathering. The crafting/gathering is generally meaningless and poorly done. I would also like to see more variety for female cosmetics, most of them are still about showing their body off even when Elin had a different version when they would make them. I like either forms of cosmetics, just would like options for either depending on the time/class.
There are a few things that can be worked on as well. For one, many people have touched on optimization. This is an ongoing problem and although it was executed beautifully in Harrowhold, more parts of the game still need some work. The computer that I use now was built for playing TERA. As such it has an i5 6600k (O.C. 4.5GHz) thus there is no reason for me to get 20fps in highwatch on preset 4.
On another note, the content seems to have fallen off, at least for me in recent times. Maybe I shouldn't play PvE but the PvE content in this game is extremely easy as the highest level for a veteran. For example, after the servers stopped lagging, we cleared RMHM in 2 hours after its release. The hardest content in the game? I hope not. In Harrowhold this was a little better, it took us 12 hours to clear this. It was relentless and I loved every bit of it. But after my next few runs, this dungeon became a very trivial sequence of mechanics that any shot caller could call to the letter. I use to say I didn't like PvE because of this (actual opponents were unpredictable unlike computers), now however, when I look back to PvP there is not much left; some equalized battlegrounds that take entirely too long to enter (many of which aren't traditional PvP), and that one guild who does civil unrest.
Unfortunately, there aren't many comprehensive suggestions that I can offer. I would say simply, "make the game harder", but there are already people complaining about it being too difficult. If we made it easier than my issue would be compounded. The only thing that I can think of is to release more comprehensive content. Consider that there are two groups of people who play. I'm not sure how to satisfy the group that claims the content is to hard but I know that BiS gear should not be given easily. For the more hardcore players there needs to be more escalating levels of difficulty. It needs to be a wide range kind of like Diablo 3's tiers. I would like to see the current hardmode content near the bottom, and something that is close to impossible on the top. The hardest content in this game should not be this simple. I want to see something that gives no hope of clearing so that when I do it actually feels like I've accomplished something not just farmed another run. And the rewards need to be worth the effort because glory is great sure, but not without gold. I know that dreadspire was suppose to follow this type of tier but it wasn't very hard and featured bosses that we had already fought. (Though it was a step in the right direction). Like I said the upper tiers should basically be impossible.
Because the publisher and the developer are different companies and the community can only talk to the publisher, I almost guarantee that these suggestions will fall on deft ears. The game has lost its shine over the years because of this and until there is more transparency it'll continue. Btw Alliance territory PvP starts in 49 min guys according to the welcome message.
tldr; Optimization pls as always, Hardest content is easy/Difficulty not stratified enough, No communication with developer (deft ears syndrome).
The combat system - Pretty much the main reason to play Tera instead of all the other mmorpgs out there. The combat system is fast and fluid for most of the classes and has a high skill ceiling for most of the old classes.
Artistic design of the world and dungeons - One thing BHS did right was create a world that looked fantastic. The design of the open world environments is colorful and varied giving the desire to explore it. Dungeons also look great with highly detailed backgrounds that make fights look great.
Things I dislike about Tera:
Lack of character customization - This is a big one and is something that has been complained about for YEARS. Why can't you choose different hairstyle and ear/horn options? Why can't you recolor elin ears/tails and why aren't they at the very least set to match the hair color by default? Why has the game moved away from costume pieces for individual parts and rather to one costume piece for the entire body? Why did BHS kill the in game armor set customization? All good questions. All never addressed by BHS.
Lack of class individuality - BHS in this past year and a half has seemed to do a complete 180 when it came to class design and class balancing. Rather than keeping each class unique with things that only specific classes could do they've started to move towards having each class be a slightly different reskin of another all while completely failing to do any type of class balance. This, in turn, has lead the the current disaster where three classes are strictly better than all other classes and there is no point in taking the other classes because they bring nothing unique to the table.
Lack of dungeon variety - Oh man, look at all the dungeons that exist for endgame players! Too bad you'll only ever run two of them after the first week a new patch hits. There is NO reason to run any of the older dungeons once you've been through one set of the gearing cycle and even if there was they have all been nerfed to the point where they pose no actual challenge. Having only two dungeons to run makes for a very boring game.
Lack of side content - What is there to do other than running instanced content aside from the rare mongo-like event? Nothing! What's the point in having a massive open world if there is nothing to do there. There's no point to exploring it. No secret places to find, no relevant mobs/bams to kill. Professions are worthless so there's no point in gathering resources. Other than instanced content there is literally nothing relevant to do in the world.
What I'd like to see in the future:
Fixes for everything in the "dislike" section - More specifically BHS should look at other mmos and ask themselves: What have they done right? What have they done wrong? and Should we add similar systems to that into Tera? Other mmos have solved the problems Tera has a long time ago and have clearly showed what works and what doesn't work. There is no excuse for BHS to not address the issues that players have been complaining about for years and for the sake of the longevity of the game they need to step up and just do it.
For these types of players: Play an e-sport on a competitive level and dedicate you whole life to gaming :pleased:
We already got only a ~2K avg player base, we don't need to shrink that number to 200 hardcore players and turn Tera into a full P2W/whale only game!
A healthy game should be made for the majority of players, not only for the <1% of kids that has no obligations and they think it's "normal" to clear and farm HM content on release date during the week!
We need more >actual content<, not only "hardcore³ content".
One HUGE problem with hardcore content is that BHS is just lazy, they can only think of cheap one-shot non iframable <500 ms mechs that will sure [filtered] high-ping players (40%+ of NA pop...)
Another problem is that hardcore content never ever pays off on this game.
We waste a huge amount of time organizing 30 ppl on HH, 2~4 Hr per phase, roll against 29 ppl, we got our VM8.5 soon to be replaced by VM9...
Even gold wise, a trade broker warrior can farm much more with much less play time...
So, just buff the rewards? Nop, remember boyz, we gonna "break the economy"!..
Oh wait, we should only use the "broken economy fallacy" for Mongos cuz [filtered] casual plebs, we want to sell expensive stuff!!1!
Imho, at this point BHS should make their minds, who is their target audience? Adults or try hard kids?
We got from too easy content on FIHM patch to almost non viable raids like that 30 man crap (especially on low pop servers).
Btw, for a big portion of our hardcore/elitist players, imma just leave this here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empathy
The other problem is that, as many said already, there isn't anything interesting to do outside of instanced content, whether you do PvE or PvP. I genuinely don't understand why people want player housing so bad, I fail to see what it would really bring to the gameplay but if enough people wants it perhaps it's worth considering. Guild housing makes a bit more sense from the social interaction PoV, since it provides a hub for all the guild members, unfortunately the devs are just too stupid and thought the could kill 2 birds with una stone by adding an easily expliotable competition system. About the rest of the systems, I understand the game is heading towards a direction that strays from the "classic" MMO models, that means sandbox elements such as crafting, housing, fishing and whatnot will tend to be simplyfied or outright scrapped, but in time I guess they'll have to either come up with very interesting instanced gameplay or start reintroducing other types of side content like minigames and stuff like that...
Anyway to keep it short, the solution is a new cash grab revamp/launch/reboot of some sort.
If no1 is talking about your game well then...............
Above fairly easy to do. They used the F2P launch card. Then the steam card. Their creative team must have something and yeah the cross play PS4 not a bad idea. All honesty I think they need to pull a GW2.5 or MW2.5. Just make a "DLC" call it an expansion git more suckers.
Problem solved.
Game needs publicity
ah PVP always been dead in Tera..........
You shouldn't need events to get ppl to PVP and thats when BG were active not to mention 3s still dead and fwc been dead multiple times........
Tera has always focused more so on PVE no life grind
2. Hate rolling dice againt another team member for vm mats. Tbh, I have terrible luck with rolling dice for VM mat.
3. Ktera got talent system and 0 ping. Their dps is normally 2 times higher than N/A. BHS should nerf N/A HH.
4. Need to fix PVP. Delete or reduce reward for Iron/ Kuma. Mini pvp game win over actual pvp contents.
5. Reduce 1ko unblockable pattern on tank. Increase tank class basic movement speed. Give tank better a iframe skill.
