New to Tera - enchanting and awakening weapons/armor?
Hello there.
I've played a few MMO in the past (LOTRO, Neverwinter, Guild Wars 2). Only casual (not hard core).
so far, am liking Tera.
I have a level 26 (?) Sorcerer and some gear and have enchanted a few items.
The main questions/scenarios:
I had a level 20 item that was fully enchanted, but then I obtained a level 22 item. What do I do? Keep the level 20 item and do what with it?
Do I start enchanting the level 22 item?
I have like 5 scrolls of enigmatic something or other that seem to indicate you can disassemble an enchanted item, but it only works on items like level 12 or 15 or lower.
In Neverwinter, for example, you could "feed" a previously upped item into a new one (not exactly an even trade, but it didn't go to waste).
Thanks for any advice!

Enigmatic Scrolls are used to reroll stat lines on your equipment. This is used to get perfect rolls for your equipment.
In Tera, with the exception feedstocks used in awakening and awakening enchanting, you can dismantle gear for a complete refund of the feedstocks you used to enchant said equipment.
Keep your enigmatic scrolls for endgame gear.
That being said in the current state of TERA, only attack and defense modifiers really matter.
The level progression has been scaled such that using your Avartar weapons, the weapon you create from combining Relic Pieces are sufficient to reach endgame.
In terms of defensive gear, iirc, they give you tokens to exchange armor, glove, boots? though i can't confirm this atm. it might be some future patch. if anything, you can try Kumas Royale through battleground to earn Bellicarium points, and trade the points for gear.
I though subject, think i upgraded my armor about every 6 levels? so from the first Superior item at level 28 through the dungeon Sinistral Manor, then Cultist Refuge, Necromancer's Tomb, Golden Labyrinth, Saleron's Sky Garden, then either Ebon Tower or Kelsaik's Nest. population shrinks exponentially so either make friends about your level or queue for a while through Instance Matching System (ims).
From 60 and onward, gear will be spoonfed.
Avatar weapon items drop depending on level, I think so you will automatically get good weapon upgrades from just playing.
Likewise, every few levels some Vanguard Requests will reward you with tokens you can right click on to exchange for armor. Do these requests a couple of times until you got enough armor and you are good.
Occasionally dungeons may drop loot that is stronger than that, just use until your next avatar weapon / next higher tier armor exchange tokens.
You can upgrade stuff that is upgradeable to +6 to get the 2nd boost but after that upgrading isn't as cost efficient anymore.
If you find yourself with tons of lower lvl feed you can combine it into higher lvl feed.
2. You don't need to enchant any of your gear apart from your weapon. EME has made gear progression (during leveling) even easier now that each dungeon completion (or vanguard completion) earns you a token. If you right click the token in your inventory, you will get upgraded gear. What's important about the gear is not the enchantment, but rather the ilevel of the item. Whenever you queue for dungeons, you need to meet a minimum overall ilevel in order to have the ability to queue. You can enchant an item for higher ilevel, but its really not necessary as you will keep getting higher level tokens each time you clear a higher level dungeon. If you ever do decide to enchant your other pieces of gear, you are able to dismantle them to retain the amount of feedstock you spent enchanting it in the first place. However, you will not be reimbursed for the alkahest you used. Avatar weapons cannot be dismantled, they can only be sold. So the feedstock you put into enchanting it is permanently gone. You can dismantle your enchanted gear by opening your inventory and clicking the bottom middle button, right above where your gold is displayed, and then clicking on the item you wish to dismantle. If you pick up gear that you don't want to use, or are getting rid of gear you don't need after you've upgraded to new gear, you can dismantle these items as well. You do not have to spend feedstock in enchanting it to be able to get feedstock from dismantling it. All pre-65 gear can be dismantled for a certain base amount of feedstock at the tier level of that item.
3. If you have feedstock of different tiers and need more of a higher tier, you can SHIFT+Right Click to convert the lower tier feedstock into higher tier feedstock. You cannot do this in reverse, however (tier 3 feedstock cannot be transformed into tier 2 or 1, etc.). I believe the rate of conversion for feedstock of tiers below tier 7 is 1:6 (meaning you will get 1 feedstock of higher tier for 6 feedstock of lower tier). Any feedstock at tier 7 (or 8?) and above has a conversion rate of 1:2 (i.e. if you want 10 feedstock of tier 9, you need 20 feedstock of tier 8). You cannot convert alkahest at all.
4. The Common Enigmatic Scrolls and Master Enigmatic Scrolls transform a piece of gear (including weapon) from a max +9 enchantment piece of gear to a max +12 enchantment piece of gear. That is, it will allow you, if successfully transformed, to be able to +12 your gear. It does not automatically +12 it from +9. This is called "masterworking" and is only useful for end-game. You will never, ever have to (or should) masterwork any piece of gear if you are below level 65. These scrolls, are also used to re-roll your re-rollable stat lines on your piece of gear. The rolls will always be random and you will need to re-roll until you get the stat that is favorable for you. You can also use spellbinds to lock favored rolls while rerolling unfavored rolls until you get perfect stats. Semi-enigmatic scrolls are used to reroll the stats on accessories. So make sure to save all these items and put in in your bank: Master Enigmatic Scrolls, Master Identification Scrolls, Semi-Enigmatic Scrolls, Spellbinds, Masterwork Alkahests, Extensive Alkahest, and Premium Alkahest. These are all items used in end-game.
Hope this helped!
You should worry about things like that when you reach lvl 65.
