Best time to enrage

  • As a Lancer....

With my static group I rush in (so she doesn't fly), causing a few swipes or in/out mechanic instead of flight, then enrage at the start after the in/out mech, where my party and I use all CD's and brooches automatically from the start and burn the boss down. This throws my Infuriate on CD to use later, which normally comes back up around 27% of the boss health remaining, perfect for after the first knockback to use to burn again.

Not only that but by using the CD's of Adrenaline Rush and stuff at the beginning it allows the CD's to time perfectly for me to where I can use them again each enrage.

Plus using Infuriate as Lancer gives max threat and allows the boss not to turn after the beginning in/out mech, giving your dps more backtime and you the relaxation of holding easy aggro to dps to your hearts content before mechanics start kicking in.

  • Fair points, with the buffs, I suppose it depends on party comp then, I would never prefer shorter total enrage time, but I suppose some may if that's the cost of using your buffs right out of the gate.
  • It's not a shorter total enrage time. Boss enrages after every 10% it takes unenraged, right? If you wait for the "natural" at 90% and then force enrage immediately after that ends, you still have to wait 10% again for the free third enrage, right? When third enrage starts you've had 20% downtime with no enrage and third enrage is starting. If you go for infuriate immediately, then wait 10% to get another natural, then wait another 10% to get a second natural, you've had 20% downtime with no enrage, and third enrage is starting. Results are exactly the same, except Infuriate has less time left on its CD.

Unless there is something I'm missing here, I don't see any reason to wait unless you have classes that wanna build resources before the first enrage (ninja, gunner, glaive skank) and you think the fight will be long enough for infuriate to be used twice either way.
  • I may not properly understand so correct me if I'm wrong, but the way I thought it worked was as follows:

Enrage lasts 36 second, so if you enrage at 100, and get to 90 before that 36 seconds, then it's enrage time lost due to the overlap, however if you wait till the natural 90% wears off then re-enrage then you will get that full 36 seconds.
  • It not works like that, the second enrage always come when you do 10% of damage unenraged. So, it never "overlaps".
  • Ah, then my previous answer would be incorrect, thank you for clarifying.
