Sorry for the rant in advanced, TL;DR - Thank you to those who appreciate your tanks. I appreciate your high DPS, awesome heals and lovely motes.

I am a Brawler - currently in VM8. I also have 2 other guile Brawler (That's right, I'm a true brawler. I don't even do IoD with them) I didn't join the bandwagon when brawlers first came out. Infact, I was a Lancer before Brawler patch (when aggro was super hard to keep, Bosses push back to oblivion - don't get me started on TSHM Kuma) and Gunners/Reapers just rips aggro off you unless you are a low ping dominator. (I'm not - I'm from Hawaii, avg 120m/s, not bad, but could be better!)

I switched to Brawler to find another viable option of tanking. I fell in love with it. I've been there when I've seen MASSIVE amounts of Brawlers running around with half a brain bull rushing to anything and lost the concept of tanking - Holding aggro and maximizing back dps for, you guess who, DPS! Don't even get me started on PvP. CS was: whoever had the most Brawlers won!

I kept true faith and allegiance to Brawling even after nerf. I love to tank. I love logging in and the first thing that pops up is a party invite before the welcome message comes on. I love the PM's i get from 3 different parties trying to snatch me. I find amusement on the snipe invites (pressing enter while chatting, but instead accepts a party invite.) For those friends, guilds, and IM's who's appreciated me, and tanks in general. Thank you very much! You guys are the reason people still want to Brawl/Tank. Unfortunately, Lancers are more viable to have in party, especially when a Brawler, like me, can't even surpass 1.5m/s.

There are some toxic players (Mostly PUGs) that has their DPS meter out. FOTMs with VM7/8 always talking trash about how trash I am because I couldn't do 1m/s+ on a boss. I'm not going to explain the factors that comes to this, it's pointless - If someone thinks you're trash, nothing will change their mind. To you guys, I am very sorry. I am not standing around twiddling my thumbs during a fight, I actually try. I know my class, but I am limited to an extent.

- I put on Aggro crystals when I know someone has VM8 or I've known to lose aggro from them. Doesn't matter if they're dps aren't as good as I thought, I keep it! Most times, they will turn around and just EAT up the next boss.
- When I lose aggro due to death or some other factor, I take it back within 2s! - Especially during last boss RMHM - These people have NO Hardy crystals on: 1 stomp = 160k hp to 0 in .5sec!
- I have watched many videos trying to study other brawlers on how to manage their only 2 iframes on last boss (yes, I consider bullrush iframe) - I've gotten better at managing. Also, that double stun that people complain about on second boss RMHM is easily mitigated with dash, bullrush.
- I reposition bosses when beneficial - but to a certain extent (If GF is still going, but I GF cd is up)
- I try very hard to do as much damage as I can, but also mitigate as much damage as I can.
- I am getting very discouraged....
"You should put on aggro crystals" - You should inspect me, mr. behemoth ninja, I've had it since first boss.
"May I get cleanse, or motes by me please, I'm dying after swipes because I couldn't iframe fast enough :open_mouth: ", Priest: "BLOCK!", "I can't block bleed :("
"Isn't this guy +15? doing 900m/s on first boss... TRASHH!!!" - from some streamer who had lowest dps the whole instance.
"Awesome tanking! Lets run again!" - OK!
">.< DW! First boss death counts don't count!" - Lots of players who also contributes to the floormat in that circle arena first boss.
"I'm sorry, I was eating alot of swipes, thank you for fast cleanse" - "No problem! It's better for healers anyways, keeps them on their toes and not braindead afk"
"Please move to AV - We need gud tanks!" - from an IM premade
"I want to learn RMHM - Please tank for us?" - Ofcourse!

    As a Brawler, you are expected to do decent DPS because Brawler is a DPS tank. To compensate the lack of useful party buffs, Brawlers contribute as much damage as they can. While I agree that less than 1M/s with +15 is a bit low for Brawler, those people harassing you with the DPS meter are wrong. You should also note that when the party as a whole keeps dying and not doing their job well, your DPS will be lower naturally. Your DPS also depends on the boss and dungeon as well. Despite the rumor, Brawler is not an easy class. To be a good Brawler, you need a lot of practice to keep GF up and use 1 iFrame and Bull Rush to get out of unblockable attacks.

    Nowadays, even lancers are harassed for not doing enough damage and we aren't even supposed to be a DPS tank. Lancers are also looked down on for using Threatening Niveot. Many +15 Lancers can do over 1M/s DPS and\ people see that as the norm. If you look at typical lancer guides out there written by Top lancers, they stress that Threatening Niveot is suboptimal and lancers now only hold aggro with DPS - this is the reason why people avoid Threatening Crystal as if it were a plague.

    The issue of Lancer being better would still be there even if you could do 1.5m/s+ since even Lancers can as well. There's nothing you can do about it, since the people yelling at you are the reason why Brawler is inferior to Lancer anyways. They whined non-stop to not only have Brawler's damage lowered, but also buff a 'support tank's' damage at the same time. Brawler's damage varies widely from boss to boss, where as Lancer's usefulness is generally consistent through all of them as well. Lancer at this point only has 1 partial weakness compared to Brawler, and that their iframe is less forgiving than Brawler's, but even that weakness is already removed in Korea since it got buffed.

    Also, if you want to avoid the second stun in RMHM 2nd boss, when you move back, don't walk back to the boss immediately, just Jackhammer from ranged, or Goundpound, or start Haymaker. When I tanked it as a Brawler and 2 Lancers I only saw the double stun when I would immediately get back to the boss after one.

    Other than that, if you really like the class, just ignore people. Generally people who play new classes get harassed for no reason, especially when the class becomes inferior. I don't play my Brawler often but I have to deal with it even when I perform above average even though I didn't have Ambush/Behemoth.

    They don't, I use it on my scrub lancer all the time n don't give 2 shits still get carried :pleased:

    That's pretty much how I feel about it. Like I said in that topic:
    "Of course there is going to be a lack of tanks for you if you rule out anyone that doesn't meet the Skilled/top percentile/BiS standards people keep demanding"
    How do you expect people to get to that point if you never give them the chance to learn and better themselves. There are a lot of good tanks out there that are capable of clearing endgame content, but never even get to or try because no one will help them get Skilled in the first place. Many of them won't meet those ridiculous expectations in damage, but they can still do their jobs as a tank.

    As Chenayz's post shows, tanks like to be appreciated, and if you show that appreciation and help them, odds are they will continue to tank for you and continue to get better in the process.
    As a tank main, I would rather tank for a less experienced party that is positive and appreciative of each other, than a top party that only cares about who has the biggest numbers and looks down on anyone else.

    Honestly tanking is fun.

    But seeing anyone with a DPS meter instantly sets my mindset to screw you.

    Eme need to make using these meters bannable on the spot. Not every class has dmg per second....
    They have dmg per hit I.e. Zerks.

    Actually, I haven't seen anyone making complaint about 1mil/s dps as any tank in any dungeon yet.

    Most of dps and healer don't complain about tank dps.

    If tank dies too much or tank can't hold any aggro or tank can't hold a position but keep changing the positions, then people blames the tank. I haven't seen any [filtered] talking about tanker's dps yet.

    There are still many +15 brawler/ lancer who can't hold aggro for more than 10 sec and changes tanking position all the time.

    And, bull rush is a mobility skill and now people use it as evade skill. It's pity for tank class. The skill doesn't have iframe part. I think, BHS should make one more iframe skill for brawler or something like a back jump with defense abililty.

    RMHM boss hits too hard on +12 Guile defense gear tank without brave potion. Maybe, people don't want VM defense part. Last boss pattern isn't really hard for tank, Unless, team mates doesn't know the mechanism.

    If people blame tank for not doing over 1mil/s dps, they are just trash.

    I hit 1.2-1.3m on my Lancer. I roll IMS and LFG for fun because it's fun to see the reactions of people when those numbers pop out.

    It doesn't matter what DPS you do as a tank (par say) but we do live in an era of DPSing. Just try to do your best I guess and dedicate yourself to slowly climbing up the ladder. You can still traditionally tank but that's no longer required with Brawler since Brawler is DPS eccentric.

    TBH I don't know what all the complaints are about. You're a tank not a DPS. DPS for fun once you've learned the dungeons, but until then you do you and if people kick you, roll with friends or guild.

    If some one post a DPS meter and then proceeds to harass you, screen shot it, report them. It is still against ToS to do so.

    Oh god, i play lancer with 160 ping, i am skilled with every hardmode dungeon, i dont lose agro, i enrage and buff party, i debuff boss and i dont die, but my dmg is [filtered]. I will relog to 4 buttons sorc, to have fun with 3 iframes, doing big numbers. Its easier if u dont like people bsig u all the time.
    If u want my lancer doing over 1m dps, please dont talk to me if ur dps is lower than 2.5m/s, because i am not here to carry your fat [filtered]. I do my job as tank, and obviously its keeping agro and support party instead of dpsing high numbers. And yes, if someone show dps meter, then BSing me for low numbers i also reporting :)

    Well if you do your job as tank and people complain about your tankdps then they are low. Another problem is not everyone has luxury to have dedicated friends in game.

    Honestly if you're not doing 2mil dps as a brawler gtfo from the class and go back to lancer. You also shoudld never need to wear an aggro crystal ever if you're in vm8 like you claim you're just not good enough at brawler to keep aggro from real dps.

    If you know your class well enough, people will seek you out without reference to the class you play. Enjoying a class because it provides you with praise at little to no cost suggests you're using the class as a crutch.

    If they're harassing you with dps meters, what you should do:
    -Take a screenshot;
    -Open a ticket, there's a section just for player abuse.
    -Report them :+1:
    -There's a good probability that the player in question will be banned or suspended if, in fact, they were harassing you with dps meter.


    That's the number 1 rule of dps meter: "keep the damn dps meter to yourselft".


    Anyway, i rly think our glorious and mighty BHS should buff brawler's aggro, cuz they rely too much on GF atm.
