Move Log-in screen from launcher to in-game

I'm not sure if this has been suggested before but with all the complaints about white log-in screen of death, you'd think someone would..Why not move the log-in screen from Tera Launcher to within the game itself? or at the VERY LEAST: make a check-able option to STAY LOGGED IN. Were it not for that darn log-in screen freezing and crashing, I'm sure the population of the game would improve as well. Possibly hundreds who can't get past that simple log-in screen, myself included..

Look at World of Tanks, World of Warcraft, literally every other game has their log-in screen right there within the game itself. They allow you to launch the game without logging in. Yet with Tera? I've got 40 GB of game here that I can't even play because of this stupid log-in screen. Gosh.

I see posts all the way back from 2012 about the same issue, and here is a simple solution:

-MOVE THE LOG-IN SCREEN FROM THE LAUNCHER TO IN-GAME (ALLOW PEOPLE TO LAUNCH/PRESS PLAY WITHOUT LOGGING IN)
-ADD A CHECK-BOX WITH THE OPTION TO KEEP YOU LOGGED IN SO YOU NEVER HAVE TO LOG-IN TO THE LAUNCHER AGAIN (like the 'remember me' option)

Otherwise the game runs perfectly fine. Some days I can get in by restarting the launcher multiple times, some days like today, not at all. It's not my computer..it's something with the log-in prompt. Such a simple thing to fix too, I don't understand.

I don't think this issue has anything to do with the location of the login prompt. The fact that it's giving you a white screen means that it isn't able to properly connect to the login server. Even if you moved the login prompt in-game, you still wouldn't be able to connect to the login server and it still wouldn't work. The problem would just be moved to another location.

I've played this game since launch and have only ever had the "white log-in screen of death" during server outages or malfunctions that are common to all. This is not a normal or common problem. If this is happening regularly to you, to diagnose I would start wondering things like: where are you connecting from? Are you using a VPN? Have you tried doing a traceroute to diag.enmasse.com? Have you tried doing a selective startup to remove other programs running at the same time? Have you tried contacting support and sending them your diagnostic information (launcher.log in the install folder)?

If you play TERA via Steam, you can have it automatically log you in (based on your Steam credentials), but this too will only work if it can connect to the login server. If it can't do that, it won't matter how you do it because it will never work.
  • It wouldn't really matter where the log in screen was, if the authentication fails due to an outage or what have you, you wouldn't be able to log in. I do however think it would be much cleaner to move it to the game itself, instead of how it is set up now. I have played TERA for a number of years and I have rarely had an issue with the log in system, other than the occasional and very annoying JSON error or an outage such as the one that recently occurred. But I do like your suggestion of moving it to the game itself.

Just saying, there is actually a login screen in the game itself, it is just not used because the front-end engine isn't as secure as the web-based login systems to reduce or eliminate phishing, hacking and botting.
