People are making this last boss way more confusing than it needs to be. If your party has at least average DPS, you don't need to be doing all this fancy stuff with the portals.
Just have your DPS stack together when the portals are about to drop. Break your portals with the AOE circle. Everyone just runs and hides behind the tank's portal. It's so much easier and way less confusing.
Yes, you do end up with some random green DoT lines, but as long as the tank can position the boss in a half-decent manner, you should have minimal trouble, if any at all.

i am tha tank and the portal caller ... ezmode wts mechaniccarry jk

Oh, does your party do it the same way as the guide? :open_mouth:

I understand that people want to clear the dungeon and get it over with, but that's literally boring. I'd rather play some hack n slash game where you can just clear things by spamming a single combo repeatedly, or dashing through maps.

What I think is that, people are confusing between a Guide and a Walkthrough. I want people to explore, not become a blind sheep.

My definition of guide is having explanation of mechanics to how and why they work the way they do. I dislike Walkthroughs as it just kills the sense of achievement that "I've cleared the dungeon" because I've done something other people have already done and copied it.

Guides are supposed to explain things to you as a human, not command things to you like a machine.

I mean, if you want a walkthrough version of the dungeon I can do that, but if you do not understand the core mechanics of the dungeon, there is a high risk where your party can panic when things go wrong because they've failed to follow the walkthrough as it is explained.

What I want people to achieve by reading a guide is that, when the party encounter such chaos, they can immediately fix the problem instead of panicking.

"The guide is giving more headache than it is helping to be honest."

Same. This is the first time I've ever been recommending that people DO NOT read the guide. It was causing more harm and confusion than helping, amongst everyone I ran with today. Most of them were concerned and confused with how complicated it made all the mechanics seem, when in reality they were very simple.

We explained the 3rd boss to anyone learning by simply saying to destroy every portal except the one who's color is closest to the rooms entrance.

Yes, that method is similar to my group's. It just simplifies everything so much and overall makes it easier to understand.
All of my friends were reading the guide before we started doing runs today, and it was fine for the first two bosses.. But once we got to last, I would just tell them to forget everything they read about it in the guide.

It's not that the guide is wrong, or even bad.. It just makes the dungeon seem a lot more complicated than it is.
  • the guides is confusing. :dizzy:
  • It took me only two attempts to figure out the last boss mechanic using this guide >.> It's not that complicated to stack the poison, just need to judge where the portal will be as the mechanic finishes, simple.

It helped me explain mechanics to my party because low dps can cause a wipe... so we have to do mechanics properly, and some people didnt struggle that much anymore after explaining :)

    Thank you Lori!

Forthermore I think the lightning-fire is similar to MM inside circle mechanism and the tank has to move closer to the dps as it didnt register people for us when the tank was in front of the boss while the other person was inside the circle but at the back of the boss (desynch ftw?)
