Major lag/FPS Drops (Along with other issues)
Extended details below: Basically, how can I get the game to play for more than 5-10 minutes without dropping FPS and lagging to the point that its unplayable?
==========================================================================================
Hello, I'm Fr0stbyte (or Frosttbyte in-game, since zeros aren't allowed). My wife and I recently started getting into Tera. I'm very picky with games, but I actually like this one and wish to continue playing. However, we're having some major issues.
We tried playing for a while and the game ran smoothly. Then a few issues arose. We've tested a few things, but nothing seems to solve our problem. One, when we're both on (she's on her pc and I'm on mine), I've tried running Speed Tests and my download speed drops to 1Mbps at times while the clients are open. Average 55Mbps with nothing open. Average 25Mbps with one client open. However, we tried to grit and bear it and continued to play, running speed tests at random intervals or when we started lagging majorly. Sometimes the speed stayed at 55Mbps with both opened, sometimes it dropped to 1Mbps. (NOTE: This has never happened with any other MMO we've tried.. so it is something to do with this game.)
Another problem: I tried leaving Tera open on just my PC to see how long it would stay running before it started lagging majorly like it does at times (and when I say lag, it gets to where its unplayable). However, after testing this multiple times, my computer would inevitably crash and reboot. I've yet to see a bluescreen, thank God, but it restarts my computer. Making me wonder if this game is even safe to play or is it going to crash something in my PC, making it to where I have to replace a part or two.
Aside from the download bandwidth hogging and crashing that occurs with only this game, our main issue is that we can play for about 5 minutes, then have to close the game and reload it because one or both of us lags to the point that it makes the entire computer laggy. (Sometimes when this occurs, even Task Manager -ctrl+alt+del- won't open.)
Basically, we've tried everything we can to figure out a solution on our own, but nothing seems to work. Which sucks, 'cause as I said, I'm picky with games and yet I enjoy this one and would like to continue playing it. I've put in a couple of tickets about this, but no reply yet. I'm hoping someone else has had these issues and found a fix. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
-Fr0st

You'd be better off opening a support ticket than posting this in the bug report section.
As for fps issues, do either of you have a controller plugged in, or anything of the sort? Some of these are known to eventually cause problems with the game ranging from 5 minutes to an hour of being on.
I do use a controller, but I can't stand the crosshairs style gameplay. I can try running the game without a controller and see how it goes.
Thanks for the feedback. ^_^
Tried using DS4 and mapped my controller to the game. This way the game itself was not using the controller, but instead the controller was simply mapped to keys and mouse clicks. This worked for a while, but then both my wife and I got lag again. So I'm still not sure what's going on... the game itself still makes my computer lag (not just in-game, but while trying to exit or going to another screen).
Btw, the game is playable with DS4, but the in-game controller was much better (as I could keep up with which skills I'm using much easier). Why would there even be controller support if it causes so many problems?
playing through steam (so is my mate) using KB
once i re-log it is fine for another half hour grrrr
no other game does this as i can jump into any other of mine and they are perfect fps
i cant play like this.can tera fix it?
planning to quit this game if they dont do an action for this matter.
btw i already file a ticket but no reply, and it
