Costing only $50 a box and maybe .00000000001% of getting that new dragon
hmmm would it help for the community to list out some of the problems of this old BAM Killer event? I can't remember much of the details but I really enjoyed the rewards such as the 3 day race changer and the other permanent costumes they had. But I vaguely remember something about the bam tokens and how they were rewarded once a day per account? And there were 3 types of tokens, like common, rare, and something. Yeah, the token part could be changed, they were tradable and easily exploitable with lots of accounts. However, it being tradable was not a bad thing, especially since it was a once a day per account thing (i think). If tokens are to be made more readily available, like how kyras worked, then being made untradable could work.
Also the milestones feature was really great, especially the double enchantment part (maybe we could time this to the start of the next patch? -wink wink-) but lmaooo 5mil bams for the last milestone were way too much. I remember we were not even close to 5mil when the event was about to end but our kill count jumped up so drastically. I mean, it's not a bad thing that we reached it "somehow", but you know...
I also really liked how the BAM killer event got its own swanky page, that looks like on another level compared to the other pages promoting events: http://tera.enmasse.com/bam-killer Also that promo video was amazing and featured the EME team. ...the acting was.. great.. too ;^^) And there was actually some kind of story behind the event which I'm sure a lot of people appreciate.
I have to admit, yes they need to do something special, but considering how small the new team is and Treeshark and the rest leaving, it is better to not expect too much. Double exp, levelling rewards, special Battleground events in the weekend, etc. If only they can make their own anniversary instance, that would be awesome.
Also not a good idea to do an event that would somehow reveal the decreasing population, for advertising purpose. No counter, no milestones, just simply "we have this and that during this time slot, come and get it" kind of events. And you can never miss cashshop sale or new recolored weapon skins as winable items in the rewards list.
What's the best thing to do on Tera 5th anniversary? Recycle, profit.
Lately, we have event after event, chained together. Back then, events were rare. Even the forums were asking if we could have more events like e.g. JP Tera. For the BAM killer event, this was the first big event that initiated all other following BAM events (which everybody likes). Up to that event, EME had only little information about the willingness of people to fight BAMs, their overall strenght in open world and so on. The little data they had was from their typical statistical data gathering and one single event where some GMs spawned Kalsaik et al. outside Lumbertown.
Even the BAM killer event makers at EME were sitting on their chair's edge as we went into the event, as they had no idea if it would really work as they predicted. Forums were in chaos as apparently everyone who had ever touched Excel came up with a graph how the event will develop and the whole market had only 1 topic, trading the BAM tokens and betting upon the outcome of the event. In the end, we had two large factions: those who placed their bets right and won a lot and those who placed their bets wrong and lost their chance on a big income. This is why the community is looking with two different point of views on this event. People were storming into the forums, bragging how much millions gold they made and firing the greed and anger of those who made only 100k gold.
If I were in charge of events at EME, I would tone down the income from events. Like the last santa event, which everyone says it was boring - because you wouldn't get tenthousands of gold. It was simply for the F2P players that stocked their battle solutions and mana pots. I'd rather have a boring event than the forums full of yelling, raging people who think they got not enough gold from the current event. The greed is just overwhelming.
