Which is honestly very very pathetic, because if BHS actually understands anything about their god forsaken game they'll realize that 90% of their etchings are practically useless in any situation whatsoever. But hey, we can trust BHS to actually balance a game with sense right?
- RNG roll to get the etch box (some people will even get 2 boxes while the rest of the raid gets 0)
- then RNG again to get an etching that is actually of use to your class
Weap/Armor crafting: only useful now for crafted brooch materials - yet the latest iteration of brooch is now a raid item drop, not crafted
Alchemy crafting: they made all alchemy items obsolete, even the mana/hp pots
Etching crafting: the latest iteration of etchings is a drop from a raid, not crafted
The only reason Hurricane was passable end game is because of how mystics heal (mostly flat or % healing).
I think BHS should redo crafting yes, but making it one profession would be too limiting, they need to expand them all again, remove all consumables from the merchants and return them to crafting, and of course remove the [filtered] rng elements from etching. No need for that [filtered].
They would have to add more things to actually craft for max level. Splitting professions into 4+ when you only craft a handful of items doesn't do much, in addition to the fact from a design standpoint it makes no sense since crafting is tied to a character, and not an account. The 1 profession limit is more of an out dated thing that is more of an inconvenience than really adding much to the game. Switching back and forth between characters for simple crafting is only wasting time, you typically don't want people doing such meaningless things.
It's easier to balance things out with 1 profession, and you can expand it by allowing people to "specialize" in stuff that gives perks for it, rather than using a pointless leveling system across multiple individual professions. Of course, some people may still go with additional characters/accounts for multiple specialties, but at least on a basic level anyone can get into crafting with a single character. Crafting can also be more of an account oriented thing as well, considering PP is account based to begin with.
You are sharp.
Crafting is almos death because of that and becuase VM doesn't need it to be master tier on crafting.
So making crafting account oriented would give a bit of healt on that aspect of the game.
Well, that is one of the benefits to both a single profession that would just branch off, and it being account based. You would no longer need to level a bunch of professions to make gear if they had a crafting requirement. Since more people could reliably access it you could make it a bit more engaging as well and have it all tied to the process of making VM gear and any of the varients; maybe even make crafting the mid tier worth while in the process in some fashion. It would also be one less things to essentially have to worry about balancing since there would only be one main option, with the future options being optional, and preferably easy to reset with just some gold sink on it.
Less "excess" and a more straight forward system is generally easier to up date too. They are a small team, and should honestly try to keep some of the systems with as little unnecessary excess as possible.
Because they don't play this game to know what those important things are.
It's a shame that the forum community prefer to QQ about "Tera is dying" than aport something in this thread.
Now you see why do I say "Haters are gonna hate"?
Not only etching needs revamp but all crafting needs some change for better.
Right now is the only real broken or unbalanced thing on the game.
Because events are the actual thing EME manages, not the game or its code.
But besides that, BHS's penchant for RNG is hardly news. This is the same dev team that just removed the PvP merchants and replaced it all with lootboxes, and replaced EME's sensible merchant-based dragon token system with multi-layered RNG walls. They are firm believers that progression should be metered by chance. I don't think it will matter what EME says otherwise.
I don't wanna be against this new staff, nope I like them, But Treeshark was famous for pushing things for NA. If we can't discuss in game materials and issues, then what the heck is this forum for? And then what is EME for? What you say is true and we can't discuss and that is the biggest issue Tera NA has. The developer is no where to find?
BHS is an idiot for ignoring the biggest market for gaming NA Tera. Why Blizzard or Riot become big with crap over-rated games? They focused on NA, that's it.
Oh, but Riot cant live without koreans. I E, EU and NA has korean players on their representative teams.
Koreans are the ones who make the meta in that game, so the boom for LoL has benn since the koreans played the game 5 years ago.
I'm not saying you can't discuss whatever you want, but they're not going to be in a position to respond readily. They can respond about an event because the event is within their control. Game systems are not within their control.
There were a few occasions where Treeshark brought forward some requests for change, but they were very few and far between and very well-targeted -- things that had a big impact for a wide amount of players, and mostly had to do with the fundamentals of game progression (like drops, awakening, PvP rewards, etc.). This was also in the old days when we were on the same build for much longer.
I'm not sure it'll be so easy to get any of the staff -- even Treeshark if he were still around -- to champion major changes to a system like etching. It's been problematic for years for a variety of reasons, and is just one of many, many systems in the game that need a total revamp. I'm not sure I'd pick as the battle to fight right now.
It would be great if EME could have a direct line to the developers and comment on their behalf on all the game systems and future plans for them. Please don't mistake this post as trying to absolve them of their responsibility to do that. But I'm just trying to answer your question about why they'd respond to a post about an event and not to this; because it's way easier to talk about things that are in your wheelhouse than it is to talk about whatever BHS is doing behind closed doors.
