Concerning the Inventory Expansion account service

I didn't see a thread about this, so I thought I should make one. It costs 495 emp for one Inventory expansion. I haven't bought one for myself, because that price is absolutely ridiculous (unless it adds 8 slots to every character's bag on your account, which i doubt, because it's worded "Add eight slots to your character's inventory, up to a maximum of 120" PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong, I want to be wrong).

A bank expansion costs the exact same amount. 72 slots of bank space costs as much as 8 slots of inventory space. There's no alternate reality where I'd think that's a good deal. With the inventory expansions for gold already present in game (with the inventory slots being an extra on top of that) I can't think of why anyone would want to pay that much money for just 8 more slots unless they're new and don't understand that they can expand their inventory with gold.

Any thoughts on this? I'd like to hear other people's opinions on whether they like this item or not.

  • Yeah, the price is insane. I'm a hoarder so I was really excited for the inventory expansion...until I found out how much it would cost. I would consider buying it for my main character IF it ever went on sale and IF I still liked Tera enough to purchase EMP.

I feel like this item would be better off as part of a bundle (like, buy Totes and get a free inventory expansion). Or possibly as one of the random prizes from opening RNG boxes. They would probably sell decently enough on the broker. But the current rate of EMP makes them ~20 000 gold. Nope.

I hadn't even considered it but that's a really good idea. Adding them to the elite gift box as an rng prize would also be a good way to do it. Having an inventory expansion as a filler prize for loot boxes would make loot boxes a lot more worthwhile. Especially since it's ONLY 8 SLOTS.

But just to like...break down the price....when you buy the bank expansion for 495 you're getting one slot of storage for about 7 emp a piece. With this inventory expansion service you're getting one slot of storage for about 62 emp.

  • For people like me, who like to carry around a lot of items they commonly use or acquire from various sources, a large inventory can be extremely helpful for not having to constantly manage a full inventory, and just carry things you commonly come across with you until you want/need to store them away.

Personally, at any given moment, I am carrying Pots, traveling NPCs, teleport scrolls, enchanting materials, crystals for different setups, gear for different setups, gathering materials, common dungeon loot, and so on. I then try to have a few slots open for any uncommon/rare items I may obtain. With 104 (now 120 thanks to these new inventory expansions) slots, this is possible to do, and it makes inventory management a hell of a lot easier on me, as I only occasionally need to move things, typically when I acquire some rare or uncommon loot.

I also do not have any alts (nor do I like making alts), so extra space is always helpful. Even if I did have alts, it'd be extremely annoying to me to have to switch characters to manage their own respective inventories.

In conclusion, the inventory space is a convenience boost for dedicated players. If you don't need all that inventory space, then of course it's not really worth that price tag. Personally, I almost immediately bought the bundle of 3. Those 16 extra slots will be very helpful. I sold the 3rd in the TB.

@Eishaa I get your point, since i hoard lots of things and keep a nearly full bag myself, but why would you pay so much for 24 slots when you could carry around everything in a pocket pet that is also a lot cheaper per storage slot and still portable inventory?
  • I have the pocket pet with all four tabs already, and that is typically where I store the things I don't need/want to keep in my inventory. Again, though, that ease of not having to manage inventory as often is the real appeal of these slots to me.

I guess it may be worth the money if you view it that way, to not have to click a few buttons to open a pet pocket. Still, it feels like it could be at least a little bit cheaper for what it is? I guess it's all subjective.

As a dedicated player with all bank expansions, gold expanded bags on all of my characters, and at least 1-2 tabs of pet pocket per alt (16 characters) the price seems a bit inflated. But when the same product is viewed by a person with only one character that they focus on it may be viewed in a better light.

What are you basing the price being too high on? That's a normal price compared to other Korean games, and even lower than a lot of other options as well. It's even lower than those others when you consider Tera doesn't have as many unnecessary items that take up space compared to other games where you're always forced to have upgraded inventory even if you aren't a hoarder.

I'm not considering other games, I'm considering the prices that TERA, and this specific version of TERA has in place for other forms of storage for a radically lower price. I don't care about other games, I'm not playing those. It just doesn't make sense to me that a 72 slot of storage coupon costs as much as an 8 slot of storage coupon in the same game in the same region. The only difference to me is that it's portable storage, but even pocket pets costs a lot less money per slot of storage.

Totes gives 72 slots of inventory space and inventory expansion only gives 8 slots...
  • It might also help to consider what it takes to get more inventory space compared to more bank space/pet pocket tabs, both of which you have to buy anyway. To get 104 inventory slots, you have to do ALL of the possible in-game methods of expanding inventory, with each one giving you eight extra slots. The other 16 to get to 120 slots were impossible until the release of this inventory expansion.

These 16 new slots are a 15% increase to the maximum amount of inventory space it was possible to get on one character, for a total of a 300% (260% before) increase to the starting amount a character can carry around in their inventory (40).
  • EME must really have ran out of ideas on how to make some quick money. The price for these inventory slots is way too expensive, and should not be something you purchased with IRL money to begin with. It should have been opened up to buy with real gold, or unlocked from doing certain achievements or doing certain quests, like the last 16 inventory slots required.

Anyone who claims they needed this to begin with has to be mad, considering theres so many other options available for storage. 8 bank tabs, 4 pet tabs, 104 inventory slots x16 assuming you went hard with alts. Heck, when you have even only 5 or 6 characters in total, something which everyone thats been f2p and not founder should have from free character slots from class releases, it would benefit you way more to buy an account bound totes when it goes on sale.

EME really gotta take a step back and think this one through again and think of someting better in the future. Since they already threw this garbage in the cash shop, its too late to just take it back and give it away for free after basically scamming their playerbase with these obsene prices+++
  • To note: Gameforge started selling it at nearly the same price...
  • Honestly, it shouldn't cost EMP. It should be a gold sink, but ya know, EME priorities...

So expensive, not worth it at all.

A pet limited to 1 per character, I don't see your point. I have an account totes, max bank slots, multiple felicities, an alt guild bank, extra characters specifically to hold stuff, and a full wardrobe. If it's useless to you at 5$ then why does the price matter? At this point you're complaining it's not basically free.

Mostly for people who have all that. If you weren't going to need it at the current price, you weren't going to need it at a lower price.

Also, summoning your pet, or having to go to the bank for stuff you use on a character, is an inconvenience. Additional inventory is nothing but a convenience/luxury item, and with many convenient things, they come at a price.
