Harrowhold patch Notes for the most recent update

  • I don't think I have ever seen a patch note in the form of "we added/changed stuff".

This is just a formal excuse while everyone knows that they are just being lazy.

GF's patch note looks like it comes straight out of google translate but it is still better than our version.
  • ....majority of you look at essential mania or ask a guild member to log on ktera get info or some no life excel spreadsheet gets posted

I thank you for making this post, Noesis, and giving us your point of view. I've been playing Tera since February 2013, and there's always been a constant, and that's people have asking EME to be transparent, to communicate and to be clear. I don't think making vague patch notes goes in the spirit of the clarity and communication people so often request.

You tried this approach for the wonder of exploration. I know what you mean, I've been playing games since I was 3 years old. However, your attempt has been poorly received and mocked because it just looked like laziness, or incomplete work, whether that's the case or not.

So my personal opinion would be to just release the complete details from now on. People who'd rather do things blind, discover things on their own and explore will continue doing so with their like-minded friends, and it's as simple as not reading the patch notes, or just reading the headers to get a general idea of what was added, and that's it. At the same time, people who prefer to have the information and strategy beforehand will do so as well, and will have complete patch notes to rely on.

Yes, we do get the information ahead of time thanks to some awesome members of the community that take their time to translate the korean patch notes and such, but our own patch notes are still important, to know exactly what has made it here and what hasn't yet, or what will not make it here at all.

    Hey everyone,

I want to talk a little bit about the most recent patch notes. I've noted on the forums that there's been a fair bit of roasting going on about the EME Harrowhold patch notes vs the Gameforge patch notes. If you aren't aware of the difference, the TL;DR is that our notes were "Harrowhold was made more difficult", and the Gameforge notes were very specific about what was changing in each phase, and by how much.

I want to talk a little about my thought process around that, because I had all of that information to hand, and I consciously chose to not include that level of specificity in the notes. Different game companies (and different games) handle patch notes differently. Some games come out indicating that a particular world boss or raid dungeon has been changed, but without saying exactly how. From my perspective, that's a key part of playing a game and putting raids on farm. So in my view of patch notes, giving away all the specific info on what was tuned is removing the exploration and understanding aspect of raiding. I know in the past the patch notes might have been extremely detailed, but my preference is to allow some mystery and discovery to happen for our players.

So that's the thought process that went into that particular note. I know that at least some guilds and premades have continued downing Harrowhold, and even that some have gone from a 6 hour clear to a 1.5 hour clear of the raid since the patch. I like to believe that re-learning curve is part of the challenge and fun of playing games like TERA. Hopefully this gives a little insight into what's going on behind the scenes, and why our patch notes have the tone and style they do.

Your thought process is so disconnected from what the community wants it is not even funny. The reason there is roasting is because the community is not happy with how you have changed the way you do patch notes. Please adapt for us, thank you.

    =====================

    Ok look.

I understand your reason and intention was to give us some sort of "surprise" to it.

However, this game is on the brink of losing lots of your well-known playerbase. We don't need to see anymore in-complete information, including patch notes. Surprises are over at this point.

You also forget that we have translators where we know ahead of time on what's happening in KTERA. This allows us to get prepared ahead of time.

For example, my friend was THIS CLOSE to making Ambush weapon and to +15 it. But after seeing KTERA's next patch where the mid-tier weapon is BETTER than Ambush +15, he decided against it thus saving LOTS of gold in the process. In the end, it was beneficial to know this information ahead of time.

We have been seeing incomplete patch notes for the past few years already. You say it's been extremely detailed, NO IT HASN'T!!! The Essential Mana group states every KTERA major patches for accurate information. Whenever we see class changes, we have to rely on Yosha that give us the most accurate information on what classes gets with base damage values and cooldown numbers. If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't have any hopes on playing this game longer.

Now like I said, I can understand your thought process to give our playerbase something to figure out, but it's too late for that now.

The reason we are roasting towards you is because of the lack of communication, server ping spikes that's been going on for two months, incomplete patch notes, etc. People are starting to loose their nerves, including me.

I place my vote for EME to get off their lazy butts and give us complete patch notes and better communication. Because doing that will show how much you "CARE" for the community, even with the game is going through hard times. Having incomplete patch notes is making us think how much you just don't "CARE" to us in general. That's how we are seeing it now. We want to see some sort of "CARE" to this community to make us believe in you guys, especially since we've lost most of our original staff members that we grew to like.

  • One thing that I noticed is that there was a change made in rmhm at last boss and it started about 1 or 2 weeks ago, so not sure if this was before the update or after. I believe this wasn't mentioned anywhere but the change I have seen is when I tank the in/out mech during, before it did not apply a bleed when boss is enraged. However, now it applies bleed, so the only way to get away from this is to either save brooch or have healer cleanse or else just follow the in/out mech. This right here is an example of why we need updated notes. These small details would be appreciated if we are known about this kind of change. It doesn't make sense when things are the way they are when they come out at the start of the patch and then all of a sudden later on just change small things to surprise us without enough information. People that play everyday really care about important information. I can understand things like Harrowhold, oh make the hakan faster, which we can find out through exploring but the change I mentioned about rmhm at last boss, those kinds of things should be mentioned. Someone might do 200+ runs a certain way and then to have something changed, they would question that.

No changes to RMHM was mentioned, not even from translated KR notes from what I saw. So, even if the notes were detailed it's very likely the changes to RMHM would not have been mentioned.
