Okay, you also mentioned that the problem seems worse when you're in an instance. Does that mean that your ping in the open world is still where you think it should be? Are there certain instances in particular where this happens more (different instances are on different servers). Also, what world server do you play on?

As for your traceroute, with a trace like that, I would expect your ping in game to be around ~110 ms average.
  • in open world im usually 75-89 instance i can be the same but usually under 100. now in open world im over 100 all the time and same with instance

Okay, in that case, your in-game ping does seem to be aligned to your route, and it's before it gets to the server. The backbone provider change happened back in December, so it's not something EME changed all that recently. Have you had the 75-89 in the last few weeks, or was this in the months before (when it was still on Zayo)?

I think it was mostly people on Comcast who had the horrible time on Zayo, but it may be that people on AT&T were fine before.
  • Wanna take a shot at this one, game became unplayable recently around 400ms+ with constant spikes from 600-2000 :(
Think I traced to the wrong location (got it from another post yesterday when this [filtered] was happening) is there anything I can do? Used to be stable 230-250ms before they switched last yr, went up to around 300 and has been getting worse ever since. Tried things like WTFast but it doesn't help much, shouldn't have to pay $ just to get my ping from 450->350

Because, looking at the traceroute, it's definitely not the servers in your case. EME cannot control the routes you take, only the provider they're on. They can move to a different provider, but there's no guarantee that will improve your personal route. Upgrading/downgrading the physical servers won't do anything for this problem.

That traceroute is... full of problems along the route. Like, even in your local area, those fluctuations are bad, and it only gets worse along the way. I'm not sure there really is any solution for that. :/ Do you have some sort of wireless Internet, or is this cable/DSL?

the problem is no one had issues with their old route once they "upgraded" it honestly downgraded everyone. just so they can save some cash that they say they dont have when they have more then plenty.

Issues had started before it, just you personally weren't impacted by the problems at the time.

We aren't at a mobile era 5 years ago, amount of traffic for social media and video streaming was actually much lower back then.

This issue ironically came with the mobile generation, alongside the fact that network cabling by routing providers do wear out over time. This same issue ironically happened with many MMOs and many cloud services (I have experienced lag even on my developing server) in NA over the past year. So yes, it is really something out of game companies' control. It just people don't notice it until the situation blows up like entire routing servers failing.
