Tera has had a whole 2 years before Reaper was released. You still want to believe female costumes outsold male ones just because of locked classes. You are free to stay delusional but it's not gonna help you feel better.

    Exactly.

It doesn't matter if NA 42% where male characters and 48% female, what they look is what's the most played and which gender and race made more profit.

Males could be played 70% but if those players don't spend money then sorry, I go for those who want to open their wallets and it happens that those where elin character players.

Some ppl are delusional thinking that the gender locked classes were the ones to drive ppl to play females but is the other way, ppl actually prefer to play with females and spend money in them, so they drived BHS to made famale classes in respond to their demands.

    True story.
  • And now you have a stangnant player population with a dwindling community as a result. Where is the hype for the new class? Each new release after reaper had less and less excitement because BHS focused on one portion of the playerbase, and kept feeding them the same recycled low-quality content. This killed any potential TERA had as a stand-out MMO with features unique to the title. A majority of the dedicated playerbase that loved TERA for what it was and its potential have left, and it's clear the model of having a high turn-over of players cycling in and out of the game playing pixel dress-up is all that's left.

I wouldn't celebrate that as a success, when TERA had much more potential than the state it is in now. Genderlocking is one of the many decisions that led this game to become just another bland fish in the sea.
  • from what i see, people roll classes that are both appealing or have advantage in-game... prime example are lancers you are most certain to find either male high elf or elins... you know there's also female cast/ human/ high elf... but the only ppl you find rolling these are the new nubs...

make males have faster animation than their counterparts and see how fast ppl will jump ships...

Yeah... I saw a High Elf lancer at Vault of Kaprima and he was playing really good.

I do know VoK is an easy dungeon but his combos, transitios from block to atack and casting abilities where.. wow.

It's not about making a new "male" class, it's about not denying a choice and then presenting "statistics" about the majority of the playerbase prefering to play one gender, when the developers artifically skew them by limiting choices and THEN informing it's playerbase the reason of decisions to keep continuing on making said gender locked classes.
Reaper was the 1st class to be gender/race locked, the stats that showed players preferred females were shown before Reaper had been added.

Not even kidding, I would really love to see what actually happens if they did this. Playing the OP new class aside, the sort of racial advantages people often talk about for the old classes are very marginal and well within the margin of error for all but the most-skilled (and lowest-ping) players. I believe that the people who choose their race/gender based on that degree of min-maxing are only a small portion of the population... but it's hard to say for sure without an objective test to prove it.

Until you see a 200ms elin sorc cast meteor at a faster pace than a 50ms non elin one. But yes minmaxers are very few and far between.

Tera is for casuals. Tera is for cosmetics. The whole concept that keeps Tera afloat is pay-to-swag. Making the animation some splitsecond faster will not suddenly having all people storm into making male classes.

They shoudl rather make a male costume. Fixed price (no RNG) and works exactly like our hundred other costumes we have. Except that it depicts a male body. Throw in the male appearance for the head and we're good; everyone could put that over the brawler, reaper, ninja, gunner. However, BHS/EME must have thought of this before. I guess it's not possible.
  • Hovever much I would love to have a Castanic Ninja, I'm telling you now there there is no way I'll be able to deal with the storms of brawlers we'll see if they became Elin capable. Just the Humans is enough already.

Honestly I'm half-expecting them to add Elin as an option for Brawler/Gunner/Pole Dancer at some point, assuming Elin costume sales are still good and others are down.

I love when people post things about how they will leave and that the game will die without them. Doubt it. Just leave, you are like a suicidal kid screaming I'm going to jump when we all know you are seeking attention.

Games like these are only as good as their community is active. You shouldn't be happy that so many people are openly leaving, because that makes it worse for everyone. If you actually enjoy this game and care about it, then seeing people quit like this should make you worried, not happy. When I stopped playing this game seriously, a good friend of mine left with me. Together we were basically the only people organizing stuff early in the morning in our guild, so when we left things got super dead at that hour, which made less people logged in, and now that's just a time when not a lot of people play, when before it used to be a time when we ran RMHM or did learning runs of it. Granted, that's a situation limited to a single guild so the scope is fairly small, but this kind of thing happens everywhere and when it happens enough then you start seeing more people leaving, which prompts even more people to leave. Whenever someone who's active on these forums says they've had enough and they're quitting, I get worried because anyone who bothers coming here and posting here semi-regularly obviously cares about this game and contributes to its community in some way or another, so that's a huge net loss for everyone when they leave.
