In general I don't usually think much about any class while hanging out in Highwatch or whatever, so here's my usual thought process when first entering a random dungeon:

    Lancer
With laurel: This run should be easy.
New: This run should be interesting.

    Slayer
With laurel: Now that's dedication right there.
New: Wow, don't see many of these.

    Warrior
With laurel: I miss playing mine. I should play it more, look how much work they put into their's... dam.n.
New: So this run is down a dps... Oh well.

    Sorcerer
With laurel: Well, damage should be great.
New: Damage might be great... lemme inspect their gear, though.

    Ninja
With laurel: /high fives, ninjas are awesome
New: /high fives, ninjas are awesome

    Brawler
With laurel: Great, I'm gonna be out dpsed. Again.
New: I bet they pull even before the healer buffs- yep, there they go.

    Gunner
With laurel: Well, they obviously like the class... why can't I get into it?
New: At least you made it to 65, better than I managed...

    Priest
With laurel: Nice, I'll probably only die a few times.
New: I uh, hope they have the have the correct res glyph.

    Mystic
    With laurel: Ball.s. Ball.s everywhere.
New: I wonder if they'd notice if I ate all of their motes.

    Archer
With laurel: I feel bad for the tank.
New: I should've taken my archer on this run too...

    Zerk
With laurel: Out of all the dps options we have you stuck with it, that's impressive.
    New: First to die.

    Reaper
With laurel: They're probably pretty good at it, I bet their dps is at least decent.
New: You have options like ninjas and archers, and this is what you went with?

EDIT NOTE: EME, you seriously have words like d.amn and b.alls filtered? Really? You guys even cuss on your livestream... lol

  • Wow so much brawler hate. I'm almost glad you never ran into a good or god tier brawler. Then again if you IM/ LFG its no wonder you never ran with a real good one.

Lancer. God tier. The evolution of lancer has been painful. Only God tier are fossils in statics. If u see one be happy about it. U might never get him again or anyone close to him. Generally has one or more Lancers.
Average tier. Most can hold aggro, be average a bit under ur last DPS. Forgets buffs sometimes.
SoL tier (sh*t out of luck). Cancer newbie. Avoid at all costs. Only got into party because you need a tank and guess who showed up at the right time.

Brawler. God tier. Same as lancer god tier most of you will never see one. If you do chances are he will never come with you again. Very selective about people he runs with. Generally has one or more brawlers.

Average. Will play good, do decent damage till he notices the DPS are $h*t or priest has terrible ES+TN or mystic is on floor most of the time. Then he will be overcompensating by DPS. No point to position well for DPS that die often or hit the boss like A lancer. If u meet him and most do meet him start to wonder as to why he was forced to DPS.

SoL tier. Total garbage. Avoid at all costs. U know who they are. New ppl or gf uptime at all costs.

Mystic. God tier. Again no god tier in LFG or im. If u do see one make sure to impress and get on his good side. Will save ur [filtered] and solo heal carry hard. U get dispelled like u didn't even see the debuff happen. Will make only ppl that are already good shine.

Average. I'll heal. Lucky if dispel. Might want to avoid really relaying on dispel. Maybe 2-3 motes.

SoL. God not him again. Doesn't put auras. Gets annoyed when asked to buff (endurence) says I'm not priest!!!

Priest. God tier. U might run into a few here and there. Very rarely. U will know when the [filtered] hits the fan u survive it somehow. Will make a [filtered] shine. Including his DPS.

Average tier. Buffs heals ress... And under 90% uptime for debuff. Gets the job done.

SoL. Uff. No comments there. Just bad.

FOTM classes archer sorc and the late ninja who slowly diving into the other category. Toxic level too high. Will DPS through anything and pull out the why did u wipe/never his fault card. If u dont wipe prepare to be harassed by his DPS.

And then there's average guys thinking their OP cuz they outdps some average tier non FOTM classes. Good luck with ur sanity.

All non FOTM classes are either god or SoL with few exceptions.

Warrior god tier will dance around boss pulling insane DPS even when all dead.
    SoL tier the rest.

    Zerk. Who plays zerk?
God tier. 2 ppl per server maybe.
    SoL tier the rest.

Slayer same as zerk. Maybe few more god tiers. And slightly better SoL tier than zerk or war.

Gunner/reaper. Same thing. Few vets left that are godly. Rest are rip SoL.

Conclusion. People are good or bad. Each class has +/- and good ppl playing. Some are easier to be decent/average on.
  • Playing Zerker or Priest:
Lancers: Amazing character, I love their debilitate move. Usually great players, except for the occasional one with badly-rolled slaughter gear.

Brawlers: Good brawlers can be counted on the back of my hand in IMS/LFG. I've had way too many brawlers that die without crystalbinds, or worse they never had an aggro crystal to begin with. If they don't have a crystal, I make sure my emergency aggro crystal is still in my inventory, because that aggro will bounce to me every time Thunder Strike/Vampiric Blow is up.

Priest/Mystic: Thanks for carrying my [filtered]. I love your heals and auras/buffs. I want your children. Mystics are usually better for some strange reason.
...except for that one priest that heals with glyphed Kaias or Regen Circle cuz they don't pay attention to HP bars.

Warriors/Slayers: Can't tell if they're in the party or not. Usually sit in between FOTM and tank on dps meters.

Berserker: Haven't seen too many, I'm usually the only one.

Gunner: Don't notice until they use their flashy skills that cover the boss in blue and orange. Their little robot is cute though! It heals everyone too!

Ninja: On my Priest alt, I heal the stump more than the character.

Archers: If they're anything less than top 2 on the dps chart, they better have full slaughter. Also impossible to heal because they're usually behind you or on the other side of the boss.

Sorcerer: Great damage, doesn't usually die. Usually a good player.

Lancer: 'Oh wow, a lancer. I forgot you exist'
Usually pretty good, and the buffs are really nice. Tend to hold aggro pretty well.

Brawler: 'Well, here we go again.'
Unfortunately the class tends to attract toxic people, spins the boss, doesn't care about the DPS.

Priest: 'I really hope they don't die.'
You get good ones and you get bad ones, it's like a RNG lootbox. They tend to be better (From what I have seen) than mystics.

Mystic: 'Please know how to do your job.'
They are mobile and they have motes which is nice, but many of them try to be priests instead of mystics.

Archer: 'Wonder what his ping is?'
After revamp they were supposed to do more damage, and some do, then you have the ones that auto attack from behind the tank the whole time.

    Gunner: 'Oh wow, that's rare.'
They have fallen in DPS potential but those that survive actually seem to be okay. They tend to die because they want to stay a billion miles away where the healer can't reach them though.

Sorcerer: 'I bet they will be next to the boss 80% of this run.'
They got huge buffs and some of them show it, but like archer, they often stand way to the side somewhere and kill their own potential.

Zerk: 'Oh, cool. You going to dodge though?'
They still do decent damage if they can ever get behind the boss, lack of mobility restricts them especially with the influx of terrible brawlers that spin the bosses around.

Warrior: 'Time to see 10 edge under the boss for 2 minutes straight.'
There are more of them now that they will be the new FOTM, unfortunately the new ones are pretty much all bad at it. USE YOUR SCYTHE.

Slayer: 'You are the reason my class has such a bad stigma.'
Reasonably high DPS potential if you do it right, unfortunately every slayer I see spends a lot of time standing completely still behind the boss and dying to easily dodged mechanics.

Ninja: '600 iframes and you can't use any of them.'
You'll see them running out of heals into attacks, they have so much potential to dodge everything yet they take most hits to the face. They like to hit their friends with targeted attacks meant for them.

Reaper: 'You gunna to jump bro?'
Reaper is a good class with pretty good DPS if you forget you have a spacebar, too bad no one uses it right. You will see them spend most of their time in front of the boss jumping.

These are my most common responses for each class.

Archer: "Huh. Don't see that one often."

Berserker: "Heh, awes- okay... what just happened to the bosses health?!"/"[Berserker], get out of I-stance please..."

Brawler: "Erm, miss brawler... you DO know you're a tank class, right?"

Gunner: "Oh great, I won't be able to do any damage this fight... as usual."

Lancer: "What race is this lancer...? Meh/Cool."

    Mystic: "Mystic, huh? ...Okay."

Ninja: "Oh [filtered], where did she come from?!"

Reaper: "Goddammit, reaper! YOU HAVE 3 DODGE MOVES! USE THEM!!"

Priest: "Sweet. A priest. I hope they know what they're doing..."

Slayer: "Yay. More slayers. (mental high five)" (note: I main slayer)

Sorcerer: "I wonder if this one'll be like that one time in AB back in the WW patch..." (note: first boss was melted within 2 minutes thanks to the sorcs in the party)

Warrior: "I'm so glad I don't have that Traverse Cut issue anymore..." (note: whenever a warrior did TC, my framerate would fall to single digits for the duration of the attack)
  • There is a lot of talk about people being toxic, while being toxic themselves. Most of this thread is negative, and what I take away is people hate all classes and other players...in an MMO. Maybe there is a lot of toxicity in the game, but this thread only helps to spread it around. This is why I play solo casually.

Let's all talk about the toxic players while being toxic ourselves. Makes perfect sense, right? Flame all you want, first time on these forums, and I won't be back to see more negativity about everyone but yourselves.
  • Well there @Klowdy
You see, you experience people being the same way time and time again and it becomes an expectation. People rush through and don't bother to learn their class and role and make the same mistakes as those before them. For every ray of hope, there are 3 people breaking that hope.

As another note, it's not like just because we expect someone to do poorly means that everyone treats them bad, it just means that it's easy to exceed our expectations and make us happy with the party.

@Vanellope is right. Eventually running through enough PUGs makes you become cynical and jaded. At least with the IMS, runs quickly shift from "Let's see how much fun we have!" to "Let's see what goes wrong this time..."
  • Warrior

I actually look at the laurel lol.
No laurel = higher chance of trap.
Most of the time, generally bc every Diamond>Champion laurel are highly geared, but... Not always. I'm Bronze laurel and outperformed a Diamond laurel of the same class (sorc) who was in 3 piece Ambush vs my full Guile.

Yea, but the laurel hints at the time spent and concern given to a certain character. Obviously because alts are a thing- people can have a certain level of skill within the game and not have spent a ton of time on a char. However, the laurel being diamond/champ is a very good indication of a person having spent time with that toon which tends to equate to knowledge of the class and time to gear. Plus, getting to diamond/champ normally requires ach points to have been earned in a variety of dungeons and not just open world brain-dead stuff.

But as with anything, its not absolute one way or the other.

I'm generally indifferent to class symbols. Except:
    - Priest and Lancer in the same party: For some reason, I do more DPS with a Priest in solo-heal runs than I do with a Mystic.
    - Warrior Tanks: It's either going to be awesome or terrible. No in-between.
  • I should've explained mine by experience so...

Brawler (65) tbh giant fists are great I just wish they had a better way to carry themselves, also the class is perfect for attention grabbing in pvp, not my main though.

Gunner (30 then deleted) Idk feels very stationery, beautiful aoe skills, I'll leave gunners off to people who are beasts with it

Berzerk (8 then deleted) never was a fan of swinging an axe around "GONNA CUT SOME WOOD"

Slayer (65) love the class so much, easy to use in pvp with a couple staggers and kD's. If only it was buffed to bring out its full potential. Its awful with mass pvp which saddens me. I may reroll into lunar tbh.

Archer (40) amazing class with mad aoe skills and amazing support to the team. Very easy to use even before revamp.

Warriors (35) I know for a fact when warrior gets to level 65 they will be hax in pvp with all the stunlocks to [filtered] you up which annoys me. I love the class however very satisfying to play.

Sorcerer (62) tbh I made a sorcerer for their mad aoe skills knowing they will dominate leader board in pvp but decide meh what's the use. I made my sorc look like a witch so it seems like she's gonna cast a spell on everybody, love the class. Its a little too much with all the barriors and traps.

Ninja (34 then deleted) Idk I just never was a fan of this class, wasn't my cup of tea.

Reaper (65) love my reaper gearing her up right now to become op with my infinite combos without space bar, however there's a lot of reapers in this game that it doesn't feel so unique so hm....

Mystic (65) love mystics perfect for pve and struggles a bit for mass pvp however a raid with only mystics equals instant victory with all the heal totems and crit auras oooomgggg.

Priest (50) great so far and a lot harder than mystic, having to constantly rebuff people and my heals aren't as powerful yet.

Lancers I never really played because it didn't seem to fit my taste

~~When I lfg and the team is built rather than rng:
Brawler: Not ever in an lfg, he IMS'd because he's toxic and his "friends" said they already had a tank, but they didn't.
Lancer: Is either the leader, friend of the leader, or nonexistant. He probably ran out his entries for the day.
Ninja: Is hit or miss, either is the most op thing in the group, or a floormat and is here only because his friend is leader.
Zerk: If it's me, it's a decent dps, nothing overly special, if not, i expect someone to be ressed alot. He's here because he got kicked from ims group because of class.
Slayer: He's probably great at evading, but can't do much in the way of dps. He's here because "IMS is cancer" he didn't even queue and probably hasn't since Bathysmal Rise.
Warrior: Knows how to iframe, knows how to edge/scythe, is extremely toxic but he's doing this for guildees and only ever says something if he needs to or gets really mad.
Mystic: Knows the boons and limitations to the class, offers to dps AND heal but only does the former if there's a problem. Is here because one of the dps asked, but would probably rather pvp or something less gamelike.
Reaper: Will activate shadow reaping every fight then attempt to spacebar hero, sometimes it works, often it doesn't. Is here because his battlegrounds are on cooldown.
Archer:Will either say nothing or is new to the class, nevertheless will be top 2 in dps. Is here because "Queue is too long"
Gunner: Is either poor dps and is here because he's ashamed and afraid someone in IMS will have a dps meter, or is op geared so it looks like dps is great and is here because "I'm bored"
Sorc: Is an alt of some sort, is here because he needs to gear.
Priest: Great at healing, Great at buffing, Great at debuffing. Is here because his masochistic lifestyle isn't painful enough.
Surprisingly very accurate description of all LFGs
