Is endgame still insanely expensive and near impossible to enchant

I took a long hiatus but I remember what caused me to quit was the freckin enchanting crap. I'd spend weeks and weeks saving up for the right scrolls and such, spending thousands upon thousands of gold, and nothing would ever level up weapons wise to the max. Eventually everything just became moot.

I've recently returned and am excited to play again (even dropped some money in the cash shop =x=)

But i'm just wonderin, what has changed in regards to endgame content?

Basically if you're only interested in getting mid tier gear (which allows you to run pretty much anything except the top tier dungeon RMHM) the answer is no: you can easily farm mats and get it to +12 with good rolls in 1 to 3 weeks, depending on how much time you play daily.
If you want to get best in slot gear (the +15 VM ambush set) the answer is yes, as it's pretty much unreachable for new players unless you're willing to get it via p2w methods.
IMO you can enjoy the game just with guile +12 (mid tier) and there's absolutely no need to get BiS ambush gear unless you wanna become hardcore.

EDIT: not sure how long ago you left, but you'll find enchanting materials to be a lot cheaper than you remember, plus the low tier gear (slaughter set) is pretty much handled to you by some lvl 65 quests and you can get it to +12 in just 4/5 hours, this will allow you to run mid tier dungeons right after reaching 65.

No, it is OK, specially getting mid gear, mats to craft VM hard to get due to lo drops but enchanting mats are not expensive like before. Things are fine with mats but we could see some more updates on some stuff tho. but still things are fine.
  • Harder the more characters you try to maintain.
Some people perceive it as difficult, but I don't really think it is. Ive never spent an insane amount of time farming (not since MCHM anyway) and since the ambush update Ive put 3 +15 pieces on one of my chars. Weap, chest and hands (owing to conflate boots and belt still being pretty good) and I never even ran a single RMHM but thats because prior to them breaking PVP again that was mostly all I did and stockpiled boxes before the release and you can still buy mats with BG credits. Ive never sold EMP either. Its just about utilizing your resources and making the most out of the things that you do like hitting all the proper vanguard dailies (the 3 top level BAM quests and then dungeons that reward higher levels of dusts/points/gold)

Sure, you wont be rich, but you can stay near the top and not even have to farm the dungeons

Should be fine as long as you keep doing dailies and keep that elite status up.
Save every little bit of gold you make. Use feedstock/vanguards from dungeons for enchanting.
