It is as it says, access denied. Try running the launcher as administrator?
If that doesn't work, you might submit a ticket

I remember having trouble updating on big patches with stuff like deleted intro files, changed font etc.
If an old backup worked and your latest install didn't, the most likely reason is that something was modified in your install that was causing it to not work for whatever reason. The launcher.log file normally explains what file it is... but now that you've already solved the issue, I guess it's not a problem anymore.
